Thank you and Welcome to my Shop.

Welcome to HKD Ceramics.

My name is Harmeet Kaur Dhingra and I am the owner of HKD Ceramics. Having graduated from university in 2014 I wanted to continue working with pottery.

Ceramics was a material I knew little about and only studied briefly at college. I wanted to study further into this material as I was fascinated by the beautiful glazes and the unpredictability of the different processes and techniques. This was a material that I wanted to keep learning about and developing my skills further in.

When I first started working with ceramics I used the technique of slab building and slip casting, I then self-taught myself how to throw on a kick wheel allowing me to develop further in form making.

Growing up, patterns and colour have always played a big part in my life and culture. I have always been drawn to these two elements as I feel that colour affects our moods and patterns, sometimes represent certain meanings to individuals. I can rely on both of these elements as they are familiar to me and I feel that I would not be the same without them. This is what I want to create in my work, giving a sense of happiness and enjoyment when looking and using my forms.

Ceramics becomes a part of you during your life. We use it in our every day environment, and I feel that when any maker creates their work, they subconsciously leave a small piece of themselves within their pieces; there is already a small piece of love that is being handed over to someone before the form has even been used, that is what I love about handmade objects.

All my pieces are hand thrown, glazed and fired by myself. They are one off and unique pieces, making it special to the buyer.

Hope you enjoy my work and thank you for visiting my page.
