About

A fluffy explosion. Sparkle!

In 2006, I dreamt up a way to earn money for college books. It had nothing to do with wool, and everything to do with squeaky new Etsy. Suddenly, I found myself face-to-face with handspun yarn on this site and dove straight into the fiber arts without coming up for air. Ever.

I love composing batts. Combining the right balance of color, texture, and contrast is what ignites my excitement in the studio. I dye and blend fibers full time, mostly overnights so I can wrangle two precious little ones during the day. My goal is to create a batt for everyone, from traditional spinners to the wild art yarnies. Felters too! If you live for a spinning experience that will surprise you, soothe you, or ignite your handspun customer base, please give a Hobbledehoy batt a whirl.

I dye nearly all of the fibers you see in my shop on my own using professional permanent dyes. I only use fibers soft enough for a baby's skin. If I wouldn't put it on my own child, I won't offer it for sale. The formula is simple: Soft fibers + quirky colorways + textural contrasts = one of a kind fiber bases for handspun projects worthy of heirloom statuses.

Let's make some wooly magic together.

I've been experimenting with wool since 2006 when I first encountered the unique and magical qualities of handspun yarn. Since then, I've been elbows deep in a studio of rainbow wooly bits, blending and carding and dyeing to my heart's content.
