Great customer service and a beautiful pair of earrings. Not too big, not too small. Quality craftsmanship and the perfect colour. Thanks Marsha!

About

intriguing handmade contemporary jewellery

close your eyes hold out your hand. is the emerging british brand under which designer-maker marsha oza creates intriguing handmade contemporary jewellery.

using traditional silversmithing techniques, marsha incorporates recycled precious metals, handmade textiles, glass, bio-resins and whatever else takes her fancy into finely crafted, wearable art.

you can find her on facebook, twitter and pinterest, or at studio 14, nucleus arts chatham, uk (where you are very welcome to join her for a nice cup of tea).

marsha says:

"i really like simple, beautiful things (rocks; sunrise; beetles; walking), and i really like clear, purposeful design.

i think contemporary jewellery can be a bit tight-lipped and inaccessible - and it shouldn't be. after all, at it’s best it’s just a combination of thoughtful design and beautiful materials. nothing to be frightened of. to me it should feel straightforward and familiar: a good comfy armchair, a nice cup of tea, and your favourite book.

i design and make jewellery because not doing it makes life feel bland. i like spending time with my materials to find out about their personalities and how we might work together.

silver is like the old family dog. stubborn and set in it’s ways - but if you can coax it round to your way of thinking there’s nothing quite as rewarding.

merino wool is rabbits. inquisitive and bouncy and a little bit skittish – if you calm it down a notch and make it feel loved, it's pretty obedient.

resins take themselves very seriously.

glass is the quiet one that brings everyone else together...

... some days it’s like piccadilly circus at my workbench."
