Perfect for the gardener who enjoys playing in the dirt. Special order was EXACTLY what the wife wanted and she has been using them ever since they came in. Top quality hand made tools that seem like they will last a LONG TIME. Will definitely be back and couldn't recommend a shop higher.

My experience with HSI has been wonderful, and I just made my third gift purchase. Mom says the tools fit well in the hand and almost do the work for you. Customer service is great too. A suggestion: Mom says that she figured out what the Yankee Weeder was for, but a note explaining what the tool was called and what it did would be really nice...even just the description on this page.

Garden Tool Manufacturer- 4th Generation Blacksmith!!

We now have the luxury of living and working in a piece of heaven in the Ozark Mountains!

We use a blend of old and new techniques to make our tools. Many tools are completely hand forged, exactly as they would have been hundreds of years ago. For blade tools we use C1075 high carbon steel, precision TIG welded to a forged shank. Every tool is carefully ground by hand to ensure a very sharp cutting edge. All tools go through a special annealing process to relieve internal stress caused by forging. They are then heat treated for a hard cutting edge and a strong, durable shank. After cleaning we attach the hickory handle. Finally they are finished with all natural bees wax and linseed oil.

We take a lot of pride in every tool we make. So much so we back the up with a life time guarantee. Give them proper care and store out of the weather and we will repair or replace them for life.

We also repair and restore all types of tools! We can do custom orders too! Remember that one tool that Grandpa used? It was his choice tool but is worn past the point of recognition??? We can re-create it!! Just send us a drawing and we'll work up an estimate for you.

Hi there, and welcome to Homestead Iron. Blacksmith specializing in garden tools. We use age old designs that are proven over and over again through generations and in different cultures. We make custom tools as well as repair and restore all types of tools. We also make functional art of all types. We love custom orders. All our products are made from the BEST American made supplies. We pride ourselves in this. Our tools are the BEST you can buy, and we stand by them 100%.

We've adapted age old traditions from Great Grandpa and still practice these today. It shows in our work and this 4th Generation blacksmith knows Great Grandpa would be proud. Every item we make is made by hand. We don't use mills or lathes in any of our procedures. We heat the metal and then use muscle and brawn to beat it into submission, to conform to the vision in mind.

Thanks for visiting our store! We appreciate your patronage.

Will & Melissa Dobkins, "WE DIG DIRT!"

We accept all forms of payment. Even if you'd like to mail us a check or money order for your order, that is acceptable too. Just contact us for our mailing info.

About half of the items we have for sale are "Made To Order", which means we manufacture them upon placement of order. So once the order is complete, and payment has been made in full it will be shipped.

A lot of the time with large custom orders, we'll ask for half of the money up front to secure the item and pay for supplies to manufacture the order. Then once the order is complete, we'll ask for the remainder due along with shipping. The item is shipped promptly after payment.
As a standard, we ship by USPS Priority, which includes a tracking # and insurance.

We ship Internationally using this method as well. Customs fees are paid by the customer. We would like for our International Customers to please contact us prior to purchase though so we can retrieve an accurate shipping cost for their location.

If you'd like to ship by using a different carrier, that is fine. Please contact us at the time of purchase and we'll retrieve an estimated shipping cost.
Refunds and Exchanges
We stand by our products 100% and they are the best tools you can get! But - if for some reason (aside from misuse or neglect) the tip breaks off or your tool gets bent or damaged in some way. We'll replace it. Just ship it back to us and we'll ship you a NEW one!

If you decide that the custom order that you placed isn't what you thought you were going to get and you HATE it, let us know. Please allow for artistic differences. Every piece we make is made one at a time and will be different than the item pictured, due to the process it takes to make our items. We actually think that these little imperfections are part of what makes our items all the more beautiful.
