I positively love the glaze on this sturdy little vase... it is a rich, vibrant, candy apple red, which looks just gorgeous sitting on my desk under a lamp. It is also the perfect size to hold pens and pencils, which is what I am currently using it for. Shipping was very fast and safe (with a little extra gift from seller, so thank you for that...) Highly recommend!! (Note to seller - if you make more of *anything* with this fantastic glaze on it, I would be very interested in another purchase. I have collected pottery for decades, but I have never seen anything with a glaze quite like yours... it is truly special!)
You can't keep it all...
At some points in my life, it's been easy to find myself short on money and long on time. After my family's gas station closed and I was only marginally successful in running my own tobacco shop, I closed up the store and tried to figure out what I wanted to do next.
I've always taken photographs and made ceramics and jewelry for people on my holiday gift giving list. Since I was now out of work, I decided that learning to make my own lip balm would be another great way to give something handmade without spending too much.
My lack of self control made my lip balm project into more than I intended. I learned to make all sorts of natural beauty products, scented candles, soap and even kiln fired glass objects. The one thing I heard as often as "thank you" that holiday season was "you should sell this".
So here I am. Things have changed and I'm back to working crazy hours, but this shop is a way for me to stay engaged in the creative process all year. It reminds me that I love making art and gives me a good reason to keep doing it even when it seems like other things are more important.
Kirsten likes lots of things: colors, texture, sounds, shapes...even puppies, race cars, sunshine and penguins. When she isn't involved in some artistic endeavor, she has a day job that she likes almost just as well.
Whenever possible I recycle materials and I try very hard to source my supplies in a way that is mindful of their impact on the environment and the people who inhabit it. It makes me feel good and hopefully it makes the world a little better in the process.
Big shout out to my dear friend @What_EyeThink who supports my art by drinking a lot and letting me have the bottles. <3
