The Queen Bees
We come from a long line of fiber lovers. Our family get-togethers consist of knitters, sewists, weavers, and fabric-petters, who are just in it for the beauty.
Handmade is so very important to us. We put meaning into our own goods: the socks are knit with love and wool; there's deep emotion in every stitch. We value the process and the product, and using the best materials to make our goods is top priority. We sew and knit items to last a lifetime; they need to last as long as the memories themselves, even if it takes a little darning and fixing to hold them together after all that love.
We decided to start dyeing wool as a new way to express our creativity. While we're both avid sewists and knitters (as well as cooks and bakers! And Emily dabbles in calligraphy...), those crafts are very deliberate and measured: you have to knit a gauge swatch before starting your new cardigan; you must use a seam gauge to ensure you're sewing with the correct seam allowance--and don't forget to press! Dyeing, while also a detailed process, allowed us to be freer in our ideas. We could ask ourselves "What if?" and not worry about the end result: What if I add green to this skein? What if I overdye it in purple? What if I reskein this to show all the different colors together? Everything always came out beautiful, no matter the method, because we made it ourselves.
What started with sock blanks and Kool-Aid has turned into high-quality skeins and professional acid dyes. We use ProChem dyes for their lightfast and washfast qualities, and 100% British yarn, resulting in the utmost caliber for your projects. We take pride in what we do, and we do what we love. We're a mother-daughter team working together to bring you yarn that will make you happy--isn't that what all knitters and crocheters want?

I sew and knit like there's no tomorrow. I bake and cook daily. I think about Christmas in the summertime. I enjoy a day with a full to-do list and an open window.
