Our Story

At HOUSE OF CAIA, our story begins deep beneath the earth. Our creations are inspired by the natural wonders of the world, designed for the conscious Goddess. Each stone is formed with copper to create a beautiful piece of jewelry. From there, it journeys to your hand where you bring it to life.

Individuality meets timelessness.

Just like you, no single piece is identical. We take pride in delicately weaving our jewelry into your every day living.

----------- Our Ethos -----------

Sustainability is one of the foundations of our company. We strive to deliver a product that we are proud to stand by. That means being committed to crafting at ethical standards from conception to end.

+Ethical Sourcing+

Unlike diamonds, the gemstone industry is surprisingly unregulated. Some of the larger issues faced in the mines include unsafe working conditions, child labour, and intrusive mining practices that are damaging to the ecosystem. At HOUSE OF CAIA, our gemstones are purchased directly from family-owned mines, as well as from suppliers with close relationships to the miners, who work based on fair-trade principles. While there are still many challenges surrounding the gemstone mining industry, especially regarding the transparency on mining conditions, we are dedicated to the continuous learning and improvement our ethical practices. We hope to build stronger and more meaningful relationships with our suppliers, in order to push for higher standards within the industry.

+Recycled Metals+

Copper is a huge component to our work and is a metal we find incredibly beautiful. Because it is such a prominent material and we use so much of it, it is purchased directly from a local metal recycling company. We hand pick our copper, which typically comes from post-consumer products, then we clean and polish it before using it for our jewelry. Recycling copper helps us contribute to a more sustainable future. Unfortunately, some of our copper materials like our chains, jewelry findings, and copper cuff bracelet blanks are not recycled. However, we are constantly searching for sustainable materials to replace the ones that are not.

Did you know?

You save 90% of energy when recycling copper than if you were to manufacture from virgin metal, and recycled copper can retain up to 95% of it's original value!

Everything down to our packaging is thoughtfully produced. Our jewelry boxes are made with 100% recycled fibres and 100% green hydroelectricity. The soft filling is also made with 100% recycled eco-fibre. Keep the box and give your jewelry a little home!

Sizing details

Care instructions

All our pieces are made with natural and uncoated copper. To keep it looking new, rinse it well with warm, soapy water and then dry it with a soft cloth.

To ensure it lasts for years to come, remove your jewellery before swimming and keep it away from perfume by putting it on last. Store in a cool, dry place and avoid wearing it to sleep, as copper tarnishes with moisture. We include a tarnish-resistant tab with every order, which can be used to gently wipe your jewellery after the first few wears.

Copper Tarnishing

It is natural for copper to tarnish. If you are beginning to experience this on your jewellery, there are two ways to brighten it back to its original shine.

Salt and Lemon Juice – Combine salt and lemon juice in a small dish and dip your jewelry. Gently rub the mixture into your jewellery until tarnishing is removed. Rinse with warm water and ensure it dries fully by polishing with a soft cloth.

Salt and Vinegar - Combine salt and vinegar in a dish and dip your jewelry into the dish. Gently rub the mixture into the jewellery until tarnishing is removed. Rinse with warm water and ensure it dries fully by polishing with a soft cloth.

Is copper safe to wear?

In short, yes, copper is safe to wear. Some ancient civilizations even used copper as a way of healing. Whether or not that's true, we can only say that we absolutely love the look of this metal!

If you experience a green tint to your skin, it is due to the copper’s reaction with oxygen, your sweat, and the oils in your skin. Don’t fret! It is nothing to be concerned about. It may not necessarily mean that you are allergic to copper as copper allergies are rare. In the event you believe you have a sensitivity, please discontinue wear and consult a healthcare professional.

To remove the green colouring from your skin, simply lather some soap with warm water and you’ll be all set to go. Keep your jewelry away from water to ensure longevity.

What if I'm allergic to copper?

In the event that you have a copper sensitivity, we offer sterling silver chains as an optional add-on. Just make sure to select it under the drop down menu when you purchase your jewelry.

For the time being, sterling silver chains are limited to necklaces.

Will my piece look identical to the photos?

Our crystals and gemstones are raw and therefore will vary in colour, shape and size. All pieces are handcrafted through a process called electroforming, where they are submerged in an electrolyte bath for 6-12 hours. During this time, copper deposits into the jewelry to create unique and distinct textures. Because of this complex process, each piece is one of a kind so you'll never see it on anyone else!

Oh no! My ring doesn't fit! Can you resize it?

Due to the of natural process electroforming, we will not be able resize a ring without compromising the integrity of the copper and stone. However, we can replace it with a different size. Please refer to the exchange policy.
