These earring are beautiful, they are exactly what I wanted. The backs to the earrings could have been a little more secure, I found that they can easily fall off but otherwise these are a great pair of earrings.

About

The Day of Small Beginnings

HouseofRenee is a line of handcrafted jewelry founded in 2006 by me, Brooklyn-born artisan, Latonia Gray. As a native New Yorker, every day is an experience loaded with inspiration for new designs, new color combinations and experimentation with new materials. Semi-precious gemstones and high quality jewelry components from around the world are the mainstays of my designs and my pieces are always infused with vibrant colors. I pay special attention to detail and refuse to sell any piece I wouldn’t be comfortable wearing myself.

Raised as an only child, my favorite rainy day activities included sketching, painting, coloring, playing with modeling clay, crocheting, reading and anything that required me to use my imagination. I first entered the jewelry designing foray as a teenager in the early 80’s after searching retailers, street fairs and festivals for colorful anklets and being totally frustrated by the lack of variety and poor quality I kept encountering. I slowly realized that what I was looking for only existed in my head and I would have to design my own. I started out using glass and plastic beads then progressed to African trade beads and finally on to gemstones. With time, my initial endeavor progressed to include bracelets, necklaces and earrings as my vision and skill set for this creative outlet grew.

As my jewelry line evolved, friends and family encouraged me to create a website and open an online shop to start selling the pieces I was, in their words, “stockpiling and hiding from the world”. After some goading, I did just that and even ventured out and began to showcase my designs at expos and bazaars. The response to my line was overwhelming and prompted me to wonder why I hadn’t done it sooner. At that time, the common questions clients asked were “How do you come up with these color combinations?” and “Where do you purchase your supplies?” Now the most common questions I encounter are “Where is your store located?”and “Do you have a studio?” – to which I invariably respond “In my dining room…for now”. However, one day very soon, it will no longer be for I know my borders shall be enlarged.

Jewelry design has become my passion and I am constantly searching for unique high-quality findings and AA and AAA gems to give my designs depth of color and a richness hard to find elsewhere. Each piece shown on my site is a one-of-a-kind original handcrafted by me with painstaking care and love.

I hope you enjoyed perusing my space…thanks for stopping by!

Welcome to HouseofRenee! The items in my shop are one of a kind and have been handcrafted with love. Many are designed utilizing beads/materials that are not readily available or are in limited supply. In addition, several of my suppliers have had to close up shop due to economic hardships. With that being said, there are a few designs that I can duplicate if you would like to purchase more than one. The same goes for requesting an item in a different color scheme. Just email me and I will do my best to accommodate you. I am always happy to make coordinating pieces, just ask!

Additional policies and FAQs
LAYAWAY PLAN: In light of the economic hardships felt by so many these days, I am happy to announce the HouseofRenee Layaway Plan. If you would like to place an item on layaway, please convo me. I will put the item on reserve and create a custom listing for 20% of the list price. As this removes the item from general inventory making it unavailable to other potential buyers, you must commit to purchase. This 20% will serve as a non-refundable holding fee. Within 14 days of the initial deposit, 50% of the remaining balance must be paid and the final payment is due 14 days hence. After each payment, I will create a new listing reflecting the remaining balance until the transaction is completed. Your item will be shipped upon final payment and I will notify you as soon as it ships.

CARE OF YOUR GEMSTONE JEWELRY:
You have purchased a unique, handmade design, which deserves special care and attention. Do not use harsh abrasives or cleanser to clean your jewelry.

Sterling Silver: The quickest, safest mode of cleaning sterling silver would be to utilize an ionic cleaner. Ionic jewelry cleaners do not use heat, sound waves or abrasives and do an excellent job of removing tarnish and dirt quickly and quietly. You may also use polishing cloths to remove tarnish and return shine. I also recommend storing jewelry in a tightly sealed airtight bag with no-tarnish strips (available from most jewelry suppliers). Change the strips every 3 to 6 months or as directed on the package.

Gold-filled: Jewelry polishing cloths are easy to use and quite safe. You may also utilize an ionic cleaner. Storage in an airtight container will also decrease the need for cleaning.

Protect your jewelry from scratches, chemicals, extreme temperatures and sunlight. Chemicals, extreme temperatures and sunlight may damage gemstones or cause them to fade. Always remove jewelry when doing strenuous activities. Apply makeup, hairspray and perfumes BEFORE putting on your jewelry as they contain chemicals that may affect your jewelry. Following these simple rules should ensure the longevity of your piece.

Wear it in good health!
