Great bag for carrying the essentials to a yoga session. I walk to class and needed a backpack type bag to carry my gear In addition to my purse. It holds my plastic slides, a water bottle and yoga socks for now. I could probably put in a small towel. The yoga mat straps to the outside. It is constructed with cloth on both ends and a mesh in the middle. It would also make a neat little bag for picnics or the beach or a lake. It works for my needs!
Sewing to Solve Problems
House of Sue owner, Sue Lindsey, worked in Sales Operations and Marketing at Cutter & Buck for 15 years. She has always worked as a problem solver. She worked closely with both customers and Sales Reps to make sure they had the products and sales materials that they needed.
Sue has been practicing yoga for many years. She found that traditional yoga bags were usually “over-the-shoulder bags, which put all the weight of the bag on one shoulder. She thought that it would make sense to design a yoga bag that would distribute the weight of the bag evenly over one’s shoulders. This is because that yoga students had just spent all this time working on their poses to create balance, it seemed counter-intuitive to then put an un-balanced load on any of the newly loosened up joints.
That is how the InBalance bag was born. It is designed to hold a block, straps, mat, etc., then be worn as a backpack to distribute weight over both shoulders and back.
One of the fun design/sewing projects that Sue tackled at Cutter & Buck was to cover pillows and seat cushions with Cutter * Buck garment fabrics. The goal was to highlight the quality and color of the Cutter & Buck fabrics – in an unexpected way.
