On Etsy since 2012

Vintage inspired, Whimsical / Casual Polymer clay Jewelry, Designed to make a statement. For the Women not afraid to show their own personal style.

Because of my love for art, I needed to find an outlet as a legally blind artist. Howling Dog Jewelry provided me a way to be artistic. This creative venture has turned my passion for making jewelry into a full time business.

In 2019 after losing our shop space in town decided to keep the 3 Blind Mice name. This year will be a transition to my NEW name. There was slways some confusion about Howling Dog , as people thought of Dog Jewelry.

In 2017 we will be unveiling a new exciting line with new finishes. The line has a Rustic Black copper look , vintage antique silver and old vintage looking patinas. A refreshing new line in pewter casting inspired by 1928 jewelry. Stay tune for the release date.

My adventure in jewelry making started about 8 years ago and we started the Etsy shop in 2012. It has just been in the last year that we have learned more about running a shop in Etsy. Very excited to be apart of this on-line community. Sharing my passion with vintage style, mixed media, and whimsical polymer clay jewelry is so exciting to me.

My jewelry pieces are made with the best quality brass and pewter found on the market today. The stamping's and filigrees are still made in the USA from vintage tooling. We only want to use the best for my customers.

A little bit about the process:
Brass stampings are created by male and female dies that stamp 24 gauge brass sheet under thousands of pounds of pressure. Some pieces are done with one strike, some require several. Others still may require a bit of hand work, such as riveting, arranging, further forming. Weight of a piece and how much hand work is required is the basis for the price of a piece as well as the current cost of rich, low brass sheet.

Stampings are also made from 18 and 19 gauge sheet. These are the heavier stampings that you will generally find to be flat on the back rather than hollow. They are great for making buttons and pendants. The sheet costs more and the process is more involved, so generally the heavier, 'gilding brass' stampings cost a bit more.

Brass finishes :
Antiqued Brass, It is a permanent finish and does not need polishing.

Silverware, The color will remind you of old vintage silverware polished to a lustrous glow! The plating bath used over the brass base is 99 percent PURE SILVER, the highest silver content in the plating trade. Our silverware finish has NO NICKEL, and it is plated on high grade quality brass.

Copper: A lush pinky-rose copper finish with a delicate hint of antique, buffed out to a shine! this plating finish is made by the finest costume jewelry plater in the US, according to strict industry standards. I mix this finish with imitation polymer clay turquoise and coral.

Russian gold plate, Russian gold, or Russian gold plating is a name often used in the jewelry making trade to refer to a rich, antiqued, specialty gold finish over brass. No longer being made. I have limited jewelry designs with this finish.

New Pewter Finishes:
Rusted iron, Rusted Iron is a specific artisan finish made with a pure copper overlay on top of the pewter, and then covered with a deeply burnished iron oxide top coat. Then the professional finisher creates the subtle copper highlights you see on the castings. The finish looks like it is 100 yrs old.

mixed media look for the past 8 years. You will find colorful artistic, unique, bohemian, whimsical style jewelry. The art medium is so versatile. Making it fun to manipulate. Making things look like stone, metal and flowers are what what I love to incorporate with mixed metals. I use Premo, Fimo, and Kato clays in my designs.
