Beautiful earrings, loved by the recipient. Lovely box, arrived very swiftly. Excellent communication from seller.

These are absolutely extraordinary earrings - just beautiful. Slightly difficult to tell from the photos, but the earrings are elegantly 'handed': one is a reflection of the other, and it's possible to choose which way to wear them - with the curve of the ear wire facing inwards or outwards to create a subtly different look. I absolutely love them. Cari-Jane's communications and service are outstanding too!

wear it until it becomes part of you

My name is Cari-Jane Hakes and I make and design jewellery here in my workshop in East Yorkshire, England.

I am originally from Glasgow, Scotland and learnt how to design whilst studying to become an Architect. Whilst learning how to design buildings and bridges I became fascinated with the details - the bits of architecture which scale a building right down to the size of a human hand - a door handle, a handrail, a staircase, a bench.

I began to learn the discipline of jewellery making and design in 2005 at Morley College in London. Learning to fabricate beautiful things out of this metal (which, to me, resembles moonlight) was and is a pure joy.

My designs draw on my architectural work and draw upon particular natural phenomena. I work in series, reducing the world as I see it into pieces of wearable sculpture.

I firmly believe that jewellery should be worn often, everyday perhaps, so much so that the pieces become almost part of your personality.

When I design my aim is always to create pieces which have the ability to transform an ordinary outfit into something extraordinary.

When I was little I collected small things. When I grew up I became an architect and built big things. Then I learnt how to make little things out of silver.

Thank you for visiting my shop, you are most welcome. Each and every piece you see here is handmade, by me, to incredibly high standards. The fabrication and the timeless design I strive for in each item means that I hope you will be able to hand your cherised ring, necklace, brooch or cufflinks down to the next generation. Each piece is unique - just like you!
I draw on my architectural design training to create each piece. The inspiration for each series is many and varied: from literary works to natural phenomena. My aim is to create wearable sculptures which can elevate an ordinary, everyday outfit into something extraordinary!

I would appreciate payment within 24 hours of purchase. Again, if there is a problem, please let me know and we can work out a solution.
My location: England, United Kingdom

Your item will be posted from the charming village Post Office. I visit this little village almost everyday and will package your item with the utmost care and ship it out to you within 24 hours of receiving your payment.

I am in England, Europe and so it will take from 7 to 21 days (in rare cases, up to a month, I know, how annoying, I wish I could control this, but alas I can not) to arrive with you in the USA, Canada, South America and Australia (or similarly far flung exotic locations). Within Europe your item should arrive with you between 5 and 7 days.

On custom orders I will convo with you to let you know how long it will take for me to create your order and will then contact you when it has been shipped.

I will ship to the address that you choose during your Etsy checkout (not your billing or PayPal address).

I package each purchase in a black gift box. This is then carefully protected and wrapped for shipping in a stong bubble mailer or tough plastic envelope. I used environmentaly friendly bubble wrap inside the mailing envelopes.

Orders that are shipped to countries outside of the European Union (E.U.) may be subject to import taxes, customs duties and fees levied by the destination country ("Import Fees"). If you are outside of the European Union (eg: USA, Canada, Australia, South America etc) you will effectively be importing my jewellery when you buy from my shop. As such, an international shipment may be subject to Import Fees, which are charged once a shipment reaches your country.

Additional charges for customs clearance will be the responsibility of you the customer. I have absolutely no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be. Customs policies vary widely from country to country. Please check with your local customs agency for tariffs and rates and for further information. Also, you should be aware that when customs clearance procedures occur, it can cause delays beyond the original delivery estimates.

Please check each item description for what insurance is included in the postage price.
Refunds and Exchanges
Please let me know if you are not happy with your purchase. I am happy to make small alterations at no cost to you (except shipping fees) if this is required. Please convo me to discuss.

If you are still unhappy with your purchase I will accept a return within 7 days of your receipt of the item. Please sent it back to me in its original packaging. When I receive the item, so long as it is undamaged and unworn I will process a refund for the full amount of the item (not including the shipping fees).
