Announcement    Hello and thank you for visiting my Etsy shop! I sell minimalist jewelry that I create in my home in Waunakee, Wisconsin. I'm just a simple old fashioned crafter who collects beautiful new and vintage beads and components and creates simple jewelry for you to wear!

SHIPPING UPGRADES!

I now offer free first class shipping for orders over $30.00.

I have added shipping upgrades if you need your items faster. They include rush processing, priority upgrade and express upgrade. See them in the S H I P P I N G section.

SUPPLIES!

As a response to customer requests, I now offer unembellished jewelry components such as hoops and posts! I purchase these high quality components in bulk for my popular jewelry pieces. Many of my suppliers only sell wholesale and have high minimums, high shipping fees or longer lead times that makes it difficult or impossible for a consumer or casual crafter to make a small purchase.

These components are great as finished jewelry pieces or for a hobbyist who wants to add her own embellishments. I am now able to offer them to you at a reasonable price for your convenience. See the S U P P L I E S section for these basic components! I will be adding more and more listings to this section. Local fair attendees, please note that many of my fairs are for handmade items only and I will be unable to offer supplies for sale at these events.

STERLING FREE!

Part of what motivated me to create my own jewelry was frustration caused by tarnishing. Not long after purchasing a beautiful handmade piece of jewelry, the silver or vermeil would begin to tarnish and would never look the same again. Polishing would change the quality of the metal, often making matte pieces more shiny, and still black tarnishing would show through. No matter what I tried to do to remove the tarnishing, I basically had a piece of jewelry that did not look like it did when I purchased it. How disappointing! These pieces were often higher priced items and are marketed as higher quality to justify the higher price.

My search for anti-tarnish components proved fruitful and I am happy to report that I am able to offer you high-quality jewelry that is 100% sterling silver free! These are high quality items created using high tech plating techniques that are also a lower cost to you!

CUSTOMIZE!

You can now customize many of my pieces with your choice of colors. I have white gold, rose gold and yellow gold options, as well as bead and charm color choices. I just uploaded over 50 different bead color photos and options so that all you have to do is use the pull down menu to make your selections. If there's an option you'd like but don't see the option, convo me and we will create a piece you will love!

CHARITY:

I'm thrilled to announce that I have been accepted as a Cause Marketing Partner with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. I'll be donating 5% of all sales of my jewelry to this charity, and 10% during November- Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. You can find the information about this charity on their web page: https://www.pancan.org/corporate-champions/cause-marketing-partners/#hygge.

I lost my mother, Jean Barreras, to Pancreatic Cancer in 1996 and am so happy to have a cause to channel donations to in her name. My mom was a stylish, creative woman who I miss every day so this cause is very close to my heart. She taught me to sew when I was a child and we did so much crafting together. Pancreatic cancer has the third highest cancer-related death rate, a higher rate than breast cancer. PANCAN provides information, support for patients and families, government advocacy as well as funding research and clinical initiatives.

About

I was inspired to start Hygge Jewelry Lab when I was searching for minimalist jewelry that was comfortable to wear and easy to put on and take off. I couldn't find anything I liked so I decided to go back to some jewelry making skills that I had not used in a few years!

I love to take one type of bead at a time and let the design, color and finish of the bead speak for itself. I usually only use one bead type through the whole piece. My designs are uncomplicated and easily worn by themselves or in layers or stacks.

The jewelry is easy to put on and take off and is ideal for someone who likes to make their accessorizing time quick or for someone in need of a simpler design for ease of use.

I source my materials domestically as well as importing them from the finest makers around the world. I curate and edit the materials to work together and create simple, minimalist pieces that are fresh and different.

Hygge is the Danish word that loosely translates to fun and cozy. I want jewelry to be fun and cozy and the experience of selecting and wearing it should be as well. I make each piece by hand in my home, which also makes it a fun and cozy experience for me!

LAB is my initials, and I've always loved how my initials actually spell a word! The fact that a lab is a space where scientific experiments take place makes it even cooler as I've always been a hobby science nerd. I love to experiment with different types of beads and components and of course with different pieces of jewelry! I hope you have fun experimenting too.

I'm so glad you found my shop and I hope you have fun experimenting with a new way to wear jewelry. I hope you find something that you really love!

Thank you for supporting a Wisconsin maker!

Frequently asked questions
Wholesale availability

Please contact me for wholesale availability.

Custom and personalized orders

Custom and personalized jewelry is not returnable. This includes bead choices and custom chain lengths. Please choose custom options carefully.

Care instructions

My jewelry will not tarnish quickly under occasional, light use. It is sterling free so it will not tarnish like sterling, and it is coated with an anti-tarnish coating. All metals tarnish over time but mine will tarnish slower than sterling.

Keep your jewelry away from chemicals, cosmetics and liquids such as oils, swimming pools, hot tubs, makeup, perfume, sunscreen and insect repellents. Remove before bathing, showering, and sleeping.

Metal can bend when pushed. Always hold the solid metal portion of jewelry to put on or take off. Never twist or hold the bead as the ring it is on can open. Glass beads are breakable when dropped. Take care with your glass beaded jewelry.

Returns

Earrings are an intimate item and are not returnable due to hygiene laws. Please make your purchase carefully.

Returns must be approved ahead of time. Contact me for approval. If your return is approved, I will give you the return address. Unapproved returns will not be refunded.

Returns must be sent in with the product packaging including card and box.

Returns from purchases that qualified for free shipping will be refunded the purchase price minus the standard shipping fee.

Repairs

Repair Policy:
Delicate, fine jewelry can break from time to time from daily use and from accidents. I can usually do repairs on jewelry that you purchased from me. Please contact me so I can determine if a repair is possible. I will not repair jewelry that is not mine and I will not repair anything without prior approval.

Fees:
$5 basic assessment/repair/listing fee. If all it needs is a simple jump ring or bead to be re-attached, this will likely be the fee. Fees vary depending on any parts that need to be replaced. Shipping starts at $3.50.

If you are in need of a repair, please contact me via convo with a photo of your jewelry.

Cancellations

I strive to ship your items out as quickly as I can. Because of this I do not accept cancellations.
