About

I make things. I always have. Just for the sheer joy and satisfaction of making.

Underlying all my work is a love of texture, and the colours of nature and the estuary shoreline. And as I really don’t like to throw anything promising away without at least trying to make it into something new, upcycling and recycling play a part in much of my work.

I have been working with textiles for many years now; however I recently completed a degree in applied arts, specialising in glass. My latest work combines fused glass with paper, printmaking and stitch to explore the light and sense of calm openness of the estuary and shoreline I love.

You can see more of my glass work on my website helen-smith.com
