This little guy is absolutely perfect! I will be back for more sloths this Xmas!
Listening to what the materials want to be.
Ginkgo Girls was a term of endearment before it became my own little cottage industry. Just two art students who made the regrettable mistake of taking a short cut beneath the ginkgos while their fruit was dropping (smells really, really bad).
About five years ago, I rediscovered knitting, and quickly discovered felting. I became so obsessed with the process that pretty soon I had inventory! I set up a table at the local farmer's market where I shopped on Saturdays and realized that it might really be possible to do what I love.
I was so unprepared for that first sale that I had no business cards. Really. When I got home and set to making some, I knew only one name would do.
I feel very fortunate to be moving in the right direction and to continue to do the work that I love. Some of my very best days are when I decide to create something new. Looking around at all the possibilities, and deciding whether to knit or sew or recycle an old material into a new one. Most of the time, I don't have the finished object in mind when I begin. Usually, I just feel that I have to use some wonderful skein of yarn, or remake a much beloved t-shirt, or find a use for all those outgrown jeans. I find that if I handle it enough, it will usually give up its' secrets and tell me what it wants to be. Once in a while I fail, but the beauty of remaking is that a even a failure probably has another life coming. I stockpile those failures, and materials that I haven't figured out yet. Experience tells me that eventually I will.
The photos you see here on my About page are a gallery of sorts to show the work that I do not typically sell here on Etsy. I am a working Fiber Artist, and these are some of the more recent pieces that I have exhibited. I do love custom work, so if there is something special that I can create for you, please convo me about your idea. I hope you'll enjoy looking around the shop, and come back and visit soon to see what's new.

I am a lifelong maker- from crafting my own toys as a child, to sewing my own clothes when I was a bit older. Now I am knitting sculptures and felting wool and loving fibers!
