About iFeltFanciful

Sales 2,647
On Etsy since 2009

Listening to what the materials want to be.

Ginkgo Girls was a term of endearment before it became my own little cottage industry. Just two art students who made the regrettable mistake of taking a short cut beneath the ginkgos while their fruit was dropping (smells really, really bad).

About fifteen years ago, I rediscovered knitting, and quickly discovered felting. I became so obsessed with the process that pretty soon I had inventory! I set up a table at the local farmer's market where I shopped on Saturdays and realized that it might really be possible to do what I love.

I was so unprepared for that first sale that I had no business cards. Really. When I got home and set to making some, I knew only one name would do.

I feel very fortunate to be moving in the right direction and to continue to do the work that I love. Some of my very best days are when I decide to create something new. Looking around at all the possibilities, and deciding whether to knit or sew or recycle an old material into a new one. Most of the time, I don't have the finished object in mind when I begin. Usually, I just feel that I have to use some wonderful skein of yarn, or maybe discover a fantastic and expected use for a more difficult new fiber. I find that if I handle it enough, it will usually give up its' secrets and tell me what it wants to be. Once in a while I fail, but the beauty of remaking is that a even a failure probably has another life coming. I stockpile those failures, and materials that I haven't figured out yet. Experience tells me that eventually I will.

The photos you see here on my About page are a gallery of sorts to show the work that I do not typically sell here on Etsy. I am a working Fiber Artist, and these are some of the more recent pieces that I have exhibited. I do love custom work, so if there is something special that I can create for you, please convo me about your idea. I hope you'll enjoy looking around the shop, and come back and visit soon to see what's new.

Wholesale availability

Yes, wholesale is available. Please contact me for pricing.

If there are post office delays, can I get a refund?

I insure every single shipment both with the post office and a third party insurer. If your package is delayed by problems with USPS, or lost, you will receive a full refund if you cooperate with the insurance claims process. There is a period of time (based on whether the package was First Class or Priority) before the claim window opens and absolutely no refunds will be given before that time. I am required to have a buyer's affidavit in order to prove the claim is not fraudulent, and cannot finish the claims process without it. With your help, I am refunded so that I can refund you.
