Announcement   My art is not about the tools used to create it. It is about my vision, message and emotions. I use my photographic images and my computer as a medium through which I can create art and express my vision of line, form, colour, composition and rhythm. I hope to go beyond "taking a digital picture" or "applying an effect" and create art – an individual expression of my vision.

About

Nature is my Inspiration

It is sometimes argued that digital art is not real art since it is generated using a computer and there is no ‘original’ however, it is now widely accepted as an art form since it involves creativity, and a knowledge of art and design principles.

Before the camera, the role of artists was to depict the real world. With the advent of photography artists realized that it was no longer important to portray the real world and they began to express their creativity in different ways and explore more abstract forms of art. With the development of the computer and its use in art, we are now looking at the next step in the evolution of art.

Following success as an award winning wildlife and nature photographer I have now enriched my creative career by exploring the world of digital art, combining my photographic skills with modern digital technology to create a more intimate approach to my images.

I use my wildlife photographs as a starting point and then try to instil my own concepts and perceptions into the image. I try to preserve an element of minimalism within my images using a parity of texture, colour and expression.

My subjects are my inspiration. Observation helps me reveal their appearance and character trying to capture the unexpected: a flash of colour, a moment of humour or a sparkle of light. I try to combine accuracy with atmosphere and convey my experience of the encounter, leading you the viewer to recognise a shared experience.

I hope you enjoy viewing my images as much as I did creating them.

Thank You,

Iain
