Iolanda, Your beautiful artwork just arrived and brought joy to my heart. They are as wonderful and warm as Spring; the colors complement each other perfectly and they vibrantly glow. I adore all three. I have a centerpiece spot reserved for them in my living room; I'll post a photo once they are framed and hung. They are perfect! Thank you deeply, it shows that you have poured your energy and passion into them. And thank you for their speedy arrival. :)

She is absolutely beautiful! I keep on staring at your beautiful artwork! Thank you so very much. Even though the post office ruined my first shipment, you were so kind to re-mail AND include a bonus print! I am humbled by your thoughtfulness and in awe of your artistic talent. Both prints are beautiful and I'm trying to find the perfect place to hang them both. n nBTW, your enclosed, handwritten, thank you card is also an extra treat because, again, your artwork is amazing. I'm going to have to go shopping for cards in your store. n nI am now a devoted fan! Will stop by your store again. n nGod Bless!

About

Paintings Unique upcycled magical wearable or usable art made with reclaimed objects.

Hello,
My name is Iolanda Constantina Stan Reinsmith and I see colors everywhere (i.c.Colors).
I had a life full of experiences that augmented the wild imagination that I was gifted with. I lived in Eastern Europe for half of my life, and in USA the other half. I spent my first seven years with my grandparents and my siblings in rural Romania on a small farm that was very similar to the Amish farms in USA. My grandmother taught me to cook, clean, milk sheep an goats, make cheese and buttermilk, bake, weave, cross stitch, embroider, spin wool for the rugs we made... She also trained me to be a lady.
My grandfather showed me how to use tools, wire a house, make cider, fish, ride a horse, build a good fire, mix mortar, make stools and shelves... He also mesmerized me with his tall tales, and his singing. He gave me the power to laugh at myself, the wisdom to forgive our oppressors, and the freedom to use my imagination and escape into a make believe place when I needed to. After his death, I used to sit under our favorite fruit tree and stare at the sky through the branches until I would see small spheres of light and color dancing and floating on top of the leaves. My brother, my sister and I had to move to the city, and live with my parents. My father was an amazing painter. His landscapes made me want to step inside his painting and never come out. My father would let me paint along his side, and I always painted the same thing; the fruit tree with the dancing spheres of colorful light. One time I looked at his perfect trees, compared them with my measly tree covered in blobs of colors, and I started to cry. My father put his brush away, sat down on the floor and said " I feel the same way you do! My trees are perfect just like the ones outside the window, but they don't invoke any feelings! I look at your tree, and it gives me life, it makes me happy. I paint trees, and you paint Happy Trees of Life! Don't ever loose your innocence and your naivety when you paint!"
My father died when I was in 6th grade, and my mother had to become a full time college student in a city far away. I became the head of the household, and the sole provider of the "Three musketeers". We had "stuff" but we were cash poor, so I had to design and sew clothing by hand, make accessories (hair, handbags, book.bags, jewelry, belts, scarves, hats). We became the trend setters in our town, and I started getting orders for one of a kind items. Everybody wanted a "iolanda original". We would have a "Fashion Show Party", and displayed everything like in an art gallery. I could see colors jump out of every item, and I sold everything way before the Party was over. Selling the handmade items and tutoring my classmates gave me enough cash flow to cover the mortgage, utilities and some food. I alleviated my brother and sister's fears and worries by telling them made up tall tales and fairy tales. I soon realized that I had to find a way to remember those stories so i can repeat them upon request, so I introduced the different color birds with magical powers to help the main character conquer any obstacle...
I now have a small shop in Lancaster. It is in an old warehouse that has over 50 vendors with different handmade Items. I have sold on eBay, and my art is hanging on walls on every continent. I also wanted to offer my pieces on a site that promotes handmade items, and Etsy is the perfect venue for people like me.

I decided to make my pricing structure for original paintings simple. I used to price according to the amount of time I spent on a piece. The problem with that system was that some of my smaller pieces took me a lot longer than expected to finish. I had to constantly answer the "why is this one more expensive than that one, when they are both the same size?". I did my homework, read some books, and decided to change the system in order to accommodate my costumers. I charge $1.25 per square inch for my original paintings that are under (and including) 8x10 inches, and $1.15 per square inch for paintings larger than 8x10 inches. When the price has decimals, I round down to the closest dollar. The same price applies to custom orders, unless the client requests framing and/or special canvas size. For custom orders I require a nonrefundable 50% down payment, with the other 50% payable within a week after completion of the painting.
