I used to be a professional software developer. But I became fascinated by melting glass to create lampwork beads. I have since left the digital black and white world of computers and have stepped into the colourful, analogue glass world. I love it!

Welcome to the Iced Moments Etsy shop. I hand make all the items in this shop in my Amsterdam studio here in the Netherlands. All my glass items are made using Italian, German and American glass. They are kiln-annealed for strength and durability. I use sterling silver in my jewellery and lampwork headpins, unless otherwise noted.

Please contact me if you have any questions. You can send me an Etsy Conversation (convo) or email me at: contact [!at]

*** WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD – Bead and jewellery parts are small. Not suitable for babies or young children ***

Until a few years ago I earned my living by writing computer programs and giving training courses. But then I became fascinated by the idea of melting glass to create lampwork beads. I have since left the digital black and white world of computers and have stepped into the colourful, analogue glass world. Love it!

Returns and exchange details
I want you to have as much enjoyment from my beads and jewellery as I had in making them. If you are not completely happy with your purchase, then you may return it, for any reason, within fourteen (14) days of receiving your order. I'd appreciate an email or convo letting me know that you are returning the goods. I can exchange the item but you will have to pay for all extra shipping costs incurred. If you prefer, I will refund your money, less shipping costs.

I am obliged under new EU regulations to supply you with a return form that you may -- but are not obliged to -- use if you wish to return a product.

I'm sorry, but I cannot accept returns for items that you have asked me to make for you or that I have substantially altered for you.
Please contact me if you are having problems paying for an order, and I will help you through the process.

I also accept payments made by bank transfer for customers outside the United States.

Buyers from the Netherlands can also pay with iDeal. But please note the following:
- Make sure that your regional settings are set to The Netherlands.
- *** DO NOT CLOSE YOUR BROWSER WINDOW DURING AN iDeal TRANSACTION!!! *** According to Etsy Support, "If a buyer closes the browser window just after authorizing the payment for their order or are not automatically redirected back to Etsy, their bank account will be charged, but the order will not be registered on the site." In other words, you will have paid, but I will not know anything about it. In this situation an automatic refund should be processed, but it may take a few business days before you see the refund.

Let me know if you experience any problems with paying for your order, regardless of the payment method.

Payment must be received within 3 days of ordering, otherwise, regretfully, the order will be cancelled. Please contact me if you think that payment will take longer than 3 days.
In general, orders will be shipped within 1-2 business days after I have received payment. Some items are made-to-order, and will take a bit longer. I will contact you within one business day after you have placed your order to let you know when your order will be shipped. You will also receive a dispatch notice when the package has been posted.

Your parcel will be delivered by PostNL or DeutschePost, whichever is more affordable. PostNL will, in general, be quicker. I have various shipping options available now, including FedEx. You can also choose PostNL ("quicker but more expensive") as a shipping method.

All packages are shipped using Priority (First Class) mail. Orders within the European Union should arrive within 5-7 working days. If you live further afield then it could take up to 8-15 working days. Your order could take longer to arrive if it gets caught up in customs. Orders are not tracked or insured unless you specifically request and pay for this.

Please note that I will ship to the address that you have registered with Etsy, so please make sure that it is correct.

Where possible I recycle my packaging. Loose beads and small pieces of jewellery are wrapped individually in tissue paper and then bubble-wrap. Fun lapel pins and headpins are individually wrapped in tissue paper and then placed into a cardboard tube which is then bubble-wrapped. All other items are packaged in a gift box. All items are placed in a padded envelope. Where possible I will try to ensure that the package can be delivered by normal post, through your letterbox. If you would prefer me to place your items in a box, please let me know (extra charges apply).
Additional policies and FAQs
--- Lampwork headpins ---
If you require a set of matching headpins then you should send me a convo or email telling me that you want matching headpins, how many you need and what you intend doing with them (earrings, for example). Depending on your request there may be an extra surcharge, as I usually need to make many more than are needed in order to get a matching set. But please realise that they will not be exact matches. You will have to give me a little leeway for these handmade items, but they will be fairly close in size and shape.

Depending on how busy I am you may need to wait up to a week or two longer. Let me know if you are in a hurry and I will do my best.

--- Custom Orders ---
After much consideration I have decided that I will no longer take custom orders.

--- How big is a US penny? ---
In some photos I use a US penny to give you an idea of the size of the item. Of course, if you don't live in America then you may not know how big a US penny is. It is about 19 mm diameter (0.75"). As far as I can determine, it is about the same size as a 2 euro cent coin (18.75 mm), a 5 cent Australian coin (19.4 mm), and a UK 5 pence coin (18 mm).

--- Contact me ---

This Privacy Policy describes how and when I collect, use, and share information when you purchase an item from me, contact me, or otherwise use my services through or its related sites and services.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to the practices of third parties that I do not own or control, including Etsy or any third party services you access through Etsy. You can reference the Etsy Privacy Policy to learn more about its privacy practices.

1. The information that I Collect

To fulfil your order, you must provide me with certain information (which you authorized Etsy to provide to me), such as your name, email address, postal address, payment information, and the details of the product that you’re ordering. You may also choose to provide me with additional personal information (for a custom order of jewelry, for example), if you contact me directly.

2. Why I Need Your Information and How I Use It

I rely on a number of legal bases to collect, use, and share your information, including:

as needed to provide my services, such as when I use your information to fulfil your order, to settle disputes, or to provide customer support;
when you have provided your affirmative consent, which you may revoke at any time, such as by signing up for my mailing list;
if necessary to comply with a legal obligation or court order or in connection with a legal claim, such as retaining information about your purchases if required by tax law; and
as necessary for the purpose of my legitimate interests, if those legitimate interests are not overridden by your rights or interests, such as 1) providing and improving my services. I use your information to provide the services you requested and in my legitimate interest to improve my services; and 2) Compliance with the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use. I use your information as necessary to comply with my obligations under the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use.

3. Information Sharing and Disclosure

Information about my customers is important to my business. I share your personal information for very limited reasons and in limited circumstances, as follows:

Etsy. I share information with Etsy as necessary to provide you my services and comply with my obligations under both the Etsy Seller Policy and Etsy Terms of Use.
Service providers. I engage certain trusted third parties to perform functions and provide services to my shop, such as delivery companies. I will share your personal information with these third parties, but only to the extent necessary to perform these services.
Business transfers. If I sell or merge my business, I may disclose your information as part of that transaction, only to the extent permitted by law.
Compliance with laws. I may collect, use, retain, and share your information if I have a good faith belief that it is reasonably necessary to: (a) respond to legal process or to government requests; (b) enforce my agreements, terms and policies; (c) prevent, investigate, and address fraud and other illegal activity, security, or technical issues; or (d) protect the rights, property, and safety of my customers, or others.

4. Data Retention

I retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide you with my services and as described in my Privacy Policy. However, I may also be required to retain this information to comply with my legal and regulatory obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce my agreements. I generally keep your data for the following time period: 7 years.

5. Transfers of Personal Information Outside the EU

I may store and process your information through third-party hosting services in the US and other jurisdictions. As a result, I may transfer your personal information to a jurisdiction with different data protection and government surveillance laws than your jurisdiction. If I am deemed to transfer information about you outside of the EU, I rely on Privacy Shield as the legal basis for the transfer, as Google Analytics and DigitalOcean are Privacy Shield certified.

6. Your Rights

If you reside in certain territories, including the EU, you have a number of rights in relation to your personal information. While some of these rights apply generally, certain rights apply only in certain limited cases. I describe these rights below:

Access. You may have the right to access and receive a copy of the personal information I hold about you by contacting me using the contact information below.
Change, restrict, delete. You may also have rights to change, restrict my use of, or delete your personal information. Absent exceptional circumstances (like where I am required to store data for legal reasons) I will generally delete your personal information upon request.
Object. You can object to (i) my processing of some of your information based on my legitimate interests and (ii) receiving marketing messages from me after providing your express consent to receive them. In such cases, I will delete your personal information unless I have compelling and legitimate grounds to continue using that information or if it is needed for legal reasons.
Complain. If you reside in the EU and wish to raise a concern about my use of your information (and without prejudice to any other rights you may have), you have the right to do so with your local data protection authority.
