Absolutely gorgeous necklace -great design and use of color.

Doing well by doing good.

We started out creating art and jewelry for charity events and auctions. We kept being asked, "Where can I get something like that?"

A portion of each sale benefits charity. Buyers choose a charity to benefit from our list. We get to enjoy making beautiful things, buyers get to enjoy having them or giving them as gifts, and humans and pets in need enjoy a good meal, educational supplies, a warm blanket -- it's win-win-win.

Wherever possible, we upcycle materials. Check the item description. Sometimes, a piece is on exhibition, which gives you an interesting option. If you purchase while an item is on exhibition, you can become that person on the card that says, "Shown through the generosity of..." and the item mailed as soon as the exhibit is over. If you've ever wandered a museum and seen that card on a work of art, well, this is the chance for you, or the person you're buying the piece for, to be that patron of the arts. Meantime, we'll send you a photo of your item on exhibit and your display card.

We do create custom orders and will work with you to come up with just the right sculpture, painting or jewelry. Is there a particular topic you, or the person you're buying a gift for, is interested in? We may be able to create a custom "100 Year Book" piece on that topic -- message us to see if we have antique paper (like book pages or sheet music) on that subject.

  • Abby, Our Founder

    Owner, Muse

Abby will always be our mascot & muse. Merlin has been promoted to Senior Dog, as well as Middle-micro-manager. Moby is still our Vice President In Charge Of Chewing Up Stuff. Mark and Joey simply work for them, and everybody knows it.

  • Merlin

    Middle-Micro-Manager, Sr. Dog

Merlin was a stray puppy who joined the firm as a foster dog, only to become a permanent member of the staff at IdeaJones. A talented barker, Merlin is in charge of security and keeping everyone alert and working when they'd much rather be napping.

  • Moby

VP Of Chewing Up Stuff, Jr. Dog

Moby came to the firm as a homeless pup and soon became Abby and Merlin's intern. He's coming along quite well, although he doesn't show Merlin's talent for barking, thank Godl. With Abby's passing, Moby has taken over many of the worrying duties.

  • Joey Jones

    Owner, Creator, Designer

Joey is the extremely camera-shy, tea-drinking artist who creates the sculpture, jewelry and other art at IdeaJones. She's also a writer, journalist, and does a fair rendition of The Beastie Boys' "So Whatcha Want" on Rock Band.

  • Mark Jones

    Owner, Shipper

Mark Jones is the co-owner and in charge of helping with whatever Joey asks him to help out with when she's stressed out and desperate, in IdeaJones or anywhere else.

Thanks for visiting IdeaJones on Etsy. If you like what you see but it's not *quite* perfect, we can work with you to create custom paintings, jewelry, etc. Like the 100-Year Book pendants but have a subject (philosophy? art? education? literature? science?) dear to your heart? Convo us and we'll check our stock of antique paper.

Like the Scrabble jewelry, but need a particular initial, word or color combination? Convo us!

Whenever possible, we repurpose materials. For example, many of our sculptures are made using many layers of recycled paper of varying strengths, colors and patterns.

If a piece is currently on exhibit, you have an interesting option. While the item can be mailed as soon as payment is confirmed, it can, instead, remain on exhibit with a display card stating that the piece is "Shown through the generosity of "Buyer's or Gift Recipient's Name." It would be mailed as soon as the exhibit ends, and a photo sent of the piece on display with the card in the meantime. If you've ever wandered a museum and seen this kind of card, now is your chance to see your name, or the name of the person you're giving the piece to! Check the item description to see if it's curently on exhibit.

  • Custom or personalized orders
  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
  • Digital downloads
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
If you contact me within 3 calendar days after delivery and item is returned in original packaging, in good condition, postmarked no later than 7 calendar days after receipt, we will issue a refund. Buyer pays return shipment. If buyer elects to get shipping insurance and item is damaged, we will work with you to resolve the issue. For health reasons, earrings are non-returnable.

Custom items -- a 30% deposit is due upon placing the order, and the remainder due when the item is ready to ship. The deposit is non-refundable. You will be asked to approve design and the completed item before we ship.

Nothing In Life Is Perfect – the antiques are old (you knew that) and have been loved, used, moved around, so wear is normal, some for 50 years or more. Zoom in to the photo to get a good look at the item and convo us if you have questions. The new jewelry incorporates semi-precious gemstones which are, let's face it, rocks. Really nice, polished rocks. Rocks, like the rest of nature, aren't perfect, unless you see them as perfect because they're natural. Glass is made from sand, and sand is natural and imperfect. In other words, we buy the best materials we can, and work carefully, so your item is beautiful and well-made, but it won't be absolutely perfect. That said, if we make a mistake, let us know and we'll work with you to resolve it. We're natural and imperfect, too.
Payment Methods: We accept Paypal and credit cards. Paypal or credit card orders can ship 2-3 business days after payment is received. Payment should be received within 5 business days of sale – if not, the sale will be canceled and the item re-listed. International orders – convo us for information.

Cancellation – you can cancel up to 24 hours after purchase.

Sales Tax: Current sales tax will be added to the purchase price if you live in the state of CA.

Custom Orders: Upon order, 30% of purchase price is due and non-refundable. Balance due upon approval of final design. Custom items are not returnable.
Jewelry is shipped USPS flat rate (in the U.S.). You may combine items to fill up a box (including necessary padding) and ship multiple items to one address at the same time for one rate. We use the smallest box that will safely hold the contents for shipment. Read item description for information. If you have questions, email us at joey [!at]

Items may be shipped insured. Buyer pays for insurance if not already included in the shipment price. If Buyer elects not to use insurance, buyer assumes responsibility. Art and antiques are automatically shipped insured and buyer pays for insurance. If you choose not to have items shipped insured, then you assume all risk. Let us know if you want insurance, and we'll adjust your invoice to add it.

Provide a secure shipping address. Just so you know, once the post office or any carrier leaves it at your door, or in your mailbox, it considers the item delivered, even if someone “discovers” it before you do. If you choose to have us ship insured and there's a problem, we'll provide necessary proof of purchase to help you submit your claim to the USPS.

A free gift tag can be sent upon request. If you want a custom gift wrapping job, or gift shipping (no invoice copy in the box plus a gift card) convo us. If you want something special, let us know and we'll try to accommodate you.

International orders -- It's a big world, and we can't possibly memorize all the details for every country, so it's up to the buyer to find out and pay all customs, duties and fees. Email us for the shipping rate for your country.
