Daddy Sang Bass is my way of getting back to the basics of tangible, personal, and individual designs.
I have a similar story to many others. I worked in the very much digital world of graphic design. This left quite a void for making things with my hand. One day, I decided to change that. Fast forward a few months, and here we are with the shop, Daddy Sang Bass. The backbone of the work is handlettering and the meaning I'm trying to convey. For me, printing is a means to then end, but it works so well because it adds a lot of individuality to each piece. I believe in making great pieces by hand, and that is what I strive for. Each item in the store is made by hand - sometimes painstakingly so - everything from sketching, carving, inking, printing, cutting, packaging, and then the shipping. All items are made with linoleum or woodcuts and an etching press in a shed in the woods of southern Alabama.
In case you were wondering, the shop name is derived from Johnny Cash's song of the same name. I love the Southern and American values he represents, and would love for my shop to have those same values.

As with many folks, I started in the digital world, but as soon as I could I began creating handmade prints. Daddy Sang Bass is my outlet to combine handlettering + printing to create tangible, personal designs.
