[ihan.itse] is a project that started when I re-discovered crochet and knitting after a long break. I had forgotten about these skills during my travels around the world for the last ten years or so.

When I settled down in Brussels I wanted to surround myself with things that remind me of home, Finland. This is where the style of [ihan.itse] comes from: natural and simple with a twist of granny chic.
Making things has since become a big part of my life, helping me feel at home in a foreign country. Friends and family loved the items I made and little by little I was getting custom orders. So I bought a truck load of jersey yarn and started an Etsy shop.

[ihan.itse] is Finnish and translates roughly as "made by me". I hand knit and crochet all the items in my shop - made by me, made for you. Custom orders are more than welcome!

The thick jersey yarn I use is a by-product of the textile industry. Fabric factories cut the edges of fabric rolls off in the end of the production line. The remaining strips are often thrown to landfill but some of the waste does get recycled as yarn - and put to good use in [ihan.itse] products. I love the chunkiness and softness of the yarn as well as the fact that it is 100% recycled.
