Cinque anni fa la nostra famiglia ha iniziato a fare viaggi annuali in Africa per lavorare con i bambini. Il nostro cuore era quello di portare speranza per un futuro più luminoso e incoraggiarli a iniziare a lavorare per il cambiamento. Non mi ci è voluto più di un respiro per rendermi conto che ero innamorato di queste persone. L'amore, la cultura, l'importanza della relazione.
Guardando indietro, ero sempre stato il tipo creativo. Molto prima che l'upcycling diventasse il nuovo, guardavo gli scartati e immaginavo uno scopo artistico per questo. Mi è piaciuto lavorare con le mie mani, usando oggetti fuori dagli schemi, per fare una dichiarazione.
Ben presto ho capito che potevo intrecciare il mio amore per l'Africa con la mia creatività con la speranza di creare consapevolezza. Contribuirebbe anche a generare sostegno finanziario per continuare a fare la differenza con questi nuovi amici e familiari.
Molti dei pezzi nel negozio contengono elementi che abbiamo portato con noi dall'Africa. La maggior parte ha elementi di vintage. Stiamo anche aggiungendo articoli realizzati dalle mani delle persone che abbiamo lavorato duramente per aiutare in Tanzania e Kenya. Questo è un sogno che si avvera per tanti.
Five years ago our family began making annual trips to Africa to work with children. Our heart was to bring hope for a brighter future & encourage them to start working towards change. It didn't take me more than one breathe to realize I was in love with these people. The love, the culture, the importance of relationship.
Looking back, I had always been the creative type. Long before upcycling became the new I would look at the discarded and envision an artistic purpose for it. I enjoyed working with my hands, using out of the box items, to make a statement.
I soon realized I could intertwine my love for Africa with my creativity with the hope to create awareness. It would also help generate financial support in order to continue to help make a difference with these new friends and family of ours.
Many of the pieces in the store contain elements we have brought back from Africa with us. Most have elements of vintage. We are also adding items that are made by the hands of the people we have been working hard to help in Tanzania & Kenya. This is a dream come true for so many.
