About

Hand-sewn clothing and accessories for your ABJDs

I started sewing clothes for BJDs with the arrival of my MNF Shushu in 2008, but didn't start selling my items until 2011. My aim is to make high-quality, well fitting clothing for the dolls I sew for. I love searching out new fabrics and trying new designs.

Each new item starts with a spark - could be an awesome new fabric, a song, or something I want for my personal collection. Then it's on to development! Because I hand-sew all of my items, I tend to make the first few iterations in a fabric I wouldn't mind keeping for my own dolls. The immense time investment of hand-sewing makes it pretty impractical to throw out my prototypes unless they're totally unsalvageable.

I make all of my patterns from scratch (though now I'm lucky I can modify some of my old patterns!). It usually takes about 5 tries to get a new pattern working well, but sometimes longer than that. My cotton shorts pattern has actually been in the works since 2010 - I think we're on version 8 now? Maybe 9.

Once the pattern is worked out, it's time to pick fabrics and make samples (woo!) and take photos. Oddly enough, taking photos is my least favourite part. Having the photos is really useful, but all the outfit changes, background choices, and re-shoots can get exhausting!

Finally, if I feel confident in my samples, then the new thing can be offered for sale. Sometimes I'll sell my prototypes if they feel good enough, but usually I keep them. It's tough to balance between offering custom options - which is a great way to see the creativity of others - and offering in-stock items, which give me the freedom to work on things that inspire me. I'm sure one day I'll figure it out.

For now, I'll just keep practising!

Hello! :D I'm Melissa - Tayma-Leigh on the interwebs. I've been sewing for dolls since 2008, but only began selling my items recently. I strive for high quality and excellent fit and like to make things that are just a little bit different.

Shop policies

Last updated on August 11, 2017
All of my items are hand sewn without the use of a sewing machine, and I take pains to ensure the highest quality and amount of detail that I can - this includes detailed top stitching, hand painting and ensuring that every seam is fully finished, even the ones you'll never see.

However, despite my best efforts, I am only human and there is only one of me so I cannot guarantee absolute perfection.

Because of this, not every item will be exactly the same, prints may be slightly different, stitch size may vary a little bit or may not be 100% perfectly straight.
While I strive to ensure that my items are as perfect as they can be, small things like this will happen and I will need to ask you to be understanding.

I reserve the right to refuse to work with anyone who is being unnecessarily difficult, rude, flakey, untrustworthy, or downright mean at my discretion. I'd prefer to have good relationships with my customers and will not tolerate people being horrid or trying to take advantage of me.

I aim to respond to messages within 24hours. If I haven't responded to your message within that timeframe and there is no notice stating that I will be away, please message me again!

Returns and exchanges
I spend an incredible amount of time meticulously hand sewing/sculpting/etc. every item and will redo everything before it goes up for sale if it is not up to my standards. In addition, I make every effort to list anything I consider a flaw in the item description so if there is something amiss, you will know about it before you buy.

Therefore, ALL SALES ARE FINAL and I cannot accept returns or exchanges at this time. Please consider your purchases carefully.

Once your items have been shipped, I cannot be held responsible for loss or damage. Untracked packages are not eligible for refunds if they get lost in the mail. If this is a concern, please upgrade to tracked shipping.
Payment
Etsy sales are handled through Etsy's payment platform. Payment for all purchases in my Etsy shop is expected upfront before your item will be shipped to you.
Shipping
Your items will be shipped through Canada Post in a padded bubble envelope.
Smaller items will be placed in small ziploc bags within the envelope so that they do not get lost. In the case of certain props or large items, they may be shipped in a box for extra protection.

I aim to get your items out within 3 working days. You will receive an email letting you know that your purchase has been shipped out or if there will be a delay. Items usually takes between five days and three weeks to arrive, but may be shorter or longer depending on the postal systems.

I use a flat rate for shipping so that you can get your items faster. This means that the shipping cost you see may not be exactly what you paid.

Because shipping from Canada is expensive, I use the basic non-tracked option for shipping worldwide shipping. You can purchase tracked shipping options if you would like the extra protection. Once your items have been shipped, I cannot be held responsible for loss or damage - and do not give refunds for lost untracked packages.

Also, please note that I am not responsible for any customs fees that may be charged when packages arrive to you.
