It all began with an alpaca...

Many years ago ( 1999) we were asked to send some of the sisters to the west coast to start a community north of Seattle. In looking into ways to support ourselves there ( our main handiwork here in Boston being the making of beeswax candles ) we fell in love with alpacas, and the sisters had a small flock of alpacas there since the property had a few acres. Then began the long journey into how to process the fleece, and our first spinning wheel was purchased !
The sisters in Seattle eventually found other handicrafts better suited to the small community, but we never lost our fascination with the traditional handicrafts of spinning , weaving, and knitting. When we started getting hooked on blended batts, I remembered we had our own carder from our alpaca days, and started experimenting with blending what I wanted to spin. I soon fell in love with the creative process of blending color and texture to make the hand spun yarns I so admired. Then dyeing my own ingredients to find "just the right color" , and so I am now pretty addicted ! I am so grateful that I can continue to do this, thanks to my wonderful customers.

Additional policies and FAQs
Where do you get your fiber?
- I source fleece from small farms. I also LOVE to support other independent artists like myself. For the solid merino top, silk and bamboo I use in my batts, I use my own hand dyed top (dyed with professional dyes ) .

Do you take custom orders?
- Yes, but only for dyed braids, we are unable to accept carded custom orders.

Can I use my coupon code for a custom order?
-No, I am sorry, the coupon code is for in stock items only.
