How the Crochet Needles became such a big part of Julie's life.
It all began back in the 1970's when Julie sold her crocheted hats in a shop Earthwater, located in North Bergen, New Jersey. With her little girl Laura looking up at her from her playpen in her shop Julie constructed patchwork items for locals, local celebrities such as the Isley Brothers, and beyond. The real magic really took place in her creative life when a couple of neighbors, Nancy and Irene who were elders in the community had taken an interest in Julie's gift at crafting beautiful and unique items. It was that reason that they decided to pass on their crocheting knowledge on to Julie.
That is where Julie's crocheting legacy began. Since then, Julie has been notorious for her wonderful one-of-a-kind gifts, her 'Not-Your-Grandma's' style of crochet items, her unique Three Dimensional Style of Crochet Blankets and the list of quality handmade items goes on and on. Heavy warm scarves that will dismiss an arctic chill to a delicate crochet lace sweater for a special occasions. As her talent progressed, she has graduated to more signature pieces that are so unique and really capture the years of dedicated crocheting and the expertise she has gained from each of those experiences.
With over 30 years of crocheting and hand crafting experience, through Inky Binky Productions, Julie is able to dedicate her pieces to those she loves. (mainly all of the little people in her world, as a mother of four, she loves children). Through the growth of the world wide web, she is also able to share them with you and those that you love and consider precious by supporting her small home-spun grass roots operation that she operates with love from her home in Jackson, New Jersey.
Why the Inky Binky?? Julie Sudbrink makes these items to show her dedication to her loved ones, especially her granddaughter, Olivia Grace Nolan who was suitably named Inky Binky as a baby. She was given a pony at the age of 2 who she learned to ride and named Macaroni. Most proceeds from this website go into a trust fund for Olivia and Gia.
