About

Love is the Spirit that Motivates the Journey.

“In Loving Memory of You” is the continued journey of my “story” and spiritual path after my soul mate dog, Casey, passed on September 5, 2013.

When Casey passed, my sort-of “sideline” life of being a dog health advocate while living in Colorado had to come to an end. Losing my parents in my early 20’s, a favorite uncle, numerous relatives, my two dogs, Tasha and Niki, to a poisonous heartworm “preventative,” losing Princess Autumn Bell, a beautiful Golden retriever to a rare form of canine cancer, and others, had taken its toll not only on my mind but on my body.

At night in my neighborhood in Castle Rock, Colorado, I would walk with my dog Dusty, my rescued labrador retriever, adopted after Casey’s passing, and my dog Abby, and I would cry my eyes out. I missed my boy so much. For some reason, I felt closer to Casey’s spirit outdoors on those walks, and crying and talking to him then was my time for an emotional release.

One night, while walking with Abby and Dusty, I was doing my usual, crying and talking to Casey, and I asked Casey, “How do I honor you?” As soon as I said those words, a deer crossed the road in the darkness (Dusty saw him, but Abby didn’t), and I stopped crying. Then I heard, “Love yourself.”

I realized up to that point that I clearly had not loved myself. I thought I did, but obviously I did not. I had so much more to learn.

The deer crossing the road that night was the first of many messages that came to me through Casey in the form of deer. At first I thought it was a fluke. Casey was trying to get my attention. If one deer wasn’t enough (and it wasn’t), on another walk he sent me 12 bull elk, single-file walking through an intersection under a streetlight in my own neighborhood. I wasn't living in a national park! I started to notice my thoughts, what I was saying to Casey when I would have the deer or deer-type animal sightings. I am a numbers person. I have to count.

Spring came after the typical snow-filled Colorado winter, and I went out in my backyard for the first time after the snow had melted. It would be my first spring without Casey. I dreaded being out there. I said out loud to Casey that I did not want to be in that yard without him.

The very next morning, as the sun was starting to come up, Dusty wanted to be let outside. While he was waiting for me to open the door, his full attention was on something. He was very anxious to get outside. I opened the door, looked out, and there stood seven deer within less than ten feet of my fence line. Just looking at me, not moving. They didn’t care that Dusty was then at the fence barking at them; they wanted to make sure they were seen and I got their message. Seven deer for seven months of Casey being gone, and the message was: “I am still here.”

Fast-forward, I was dying a slow death mentally and it was starting to take a toll on my body. I started a completely new life in Idaho, where I now call home. I love my new life, but, more importantly, I love myself. Message received, Casey! I keep my heart and mind open to whatever messages I may receive, whether it is from Casey/God/Spirit – though I think they are all one and the same – and live my life day to day without expectations, except now I know life is unfolding exactly how it should, in a happy and fulfilling manner.

I took the leap of faith and live my soul’s purpose, in loving memory of my boy, Casey, and I quit my then-24-1/2-year career as a court reporter, a career that had not served me in any manner for years. Over 35 years in the legal field was not where I needed nor wanted to be anymore. After being an online retailer for over a decade selling mostly pet sympathy gifts with my Kindred Spirits Gift Shop, I needed more. My soul needed to create! Next came AuntieAngelDesigns here on Etsy, and I have plans for a third Etsy shop soon.

The inspiration never stops. He won’t let it. While I may not be an “expert” on death, it sure feels like it sometimes. I know what it is like to lose a loved one, pet and human, and not being able to heal the part of the heart and soul that is broken.

When I went on a “hunt” for a new shop logo, the antlers “spoke” to me. The logo is a nod to life with my precious angel boy and our lives together in Colorado.

In many cultures, the deer is a symbol of spiritual authority. During a deer’s life, the antlers fall off and grow again, and the deer is also a symbol of regeneration, just like my “new” life in Idaho. I have read that in the “Christian imagination, the deer is a symbol of piety, devotion and of God taking care of his children. The legend of Saint Eustace, for example, tells the story of the Roman general who, before becoming a saint, was out hunting and came across a magnificent and enormous deer. When Eustace looked at the animal’s eyes, the light of Christ shone out of them and the voice of God spoke to him through them.” (Quoted material courtesy of http://www.faena.com.)

Welcome to “In Loving Memory of You.” Thank you for being a part of my journey. I am here to serve you.

Offered with love,

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

See something you like but want to remove or replace a charm, just ask!

Sizing details

If you want a certain piece but don't see it in a size you need, just ask!

Bracelets are constructed on a bead board using the size of the wearer's wrist. Please measure your wrist TWICE with a tape measure and provide that measurement to me when you place your order. I CANNOT use the size of a favorite bracelet or watch that you own because each piece is unique.

Why my having the wrist measurement is crucial? A measurement that is merely one-half-inch off means the bracelet will be too tight or too loose.

The average female wrist is 7 inches.

Gift wrapping and packaging

I do not include pricing information when your gift is sent to someone. The recipient will receive my shop's packing slip with identifying information.

Each piece is lovingly boxed and wrapped with a coordinating ribbon. A coordinating blank gift enclosure card is included with each piece if I am sending the item to you for you to give to your special someone IF you mark that your item is "gift" during the checkout process.

If I am sending the gift to your special someone, please fill out Etsy's free gift card message feature, and don't forget to note how you would like to "sign" your name to the gift message!

Care instructions

Please do not wear your jewelry to bed, while washing dishes, while taking a bath or shower, while swimming in a lake, pool, the ocean, during recreational activities ... Your piece will last for years to come if you treat it with kindness.

All metal, except platinum and 14K gold, will tarnish. Metal will tarnish with humidity and sweat and perfume/lotions. I provide a sample Sunshine brand polishing cloth to remove tarnish from the metal components of your piece. Please do NOT use cleaning chemicals to remove tarnish from your piece.

Cremation Jewelry

Cremation jewelry CANNOT be returned for a refund under any circumstances. Please follow the instructions sent with your cremation jewelry and handle and wear your precious piece and loved one's ashes with the utmost care. See the jewelry care instructions in my shop for general jewelry care guidelines.

Each piece is carefully inspected by me before it is shipped. If your jewelry arrives and was damaged in the shipping process, I may ask for photograph(s) to show the damage to support my insurance claim with the United States Postal Service. At that time we may discuss replacement of that specific piece, if still offered in my shop, or one of equal style or value.

Restringing Services

All of my bracelets are strung on jeweler's wire, but wire does wear overtime and can break. Some of us are harder on our jewelry than others, and I understand that.

For US customers only: If your bracelet breaks within one year from date of purchase, please contact me. You must return the bracelet to me -- at your cost -- so that I can reuse the charm, the toggle clasp, and any usable beads and components. I am happy to restring the bracelet and replace any missing beads at that time at no charge and will return the item to you at my cost.

After one year from the date of purchase there is another breakage, I am happy to restring your piece again, but you will be responsible for mailing costs to and from my shop per each occurrence.
