Loved that the gift was in a cute package with two tea bags and a hand written note. It's little things like that, that show care an effort. The little note was such a nice touch and just professional. Can't say enough about the work! Keep it up!!!

About

I Found Myself in Clay

I was drawn to clay at a young age - but I didn't formally study until I went to Japan as a college student on a study abroad scholarship. Prior to that, art classes were electives that I couldn't afford as I planned my college education. But it was required to take art in Japan, and thus, my love affair with clay truly began. When I returned to the US, working with clay took a back-seat as I finished my education and became a full-time educator.

I settled in the lovely south-eastern part of Virginia, where beaches are plentiful and traffic even more so. I found a community studio, and joined a large group of artists who specialize in all kinds of clay endeavors. While I formally trained on the wheel, a couple problems with my back and wrist got me into hand-buildling, and I've enjoyed it ever since! I love molding plates and other home decor items, as well as jewelry pieces - pendants, buttons, charms, you name it. I enjoy creating functional work, and let my creativity flow whenever I'm in studio -- it is my break from the day-to-day of teaching and being a mom, so each and every piece that comes out is really one-of-a-kind based on how I was feeling that day!

Shipping
Shipping is tricky for pottery - It's expensive to package and ship. Each item listing explains the shipping policy for that particular item. I am happy to add additional shipping charges if you want features such as expedited shipping and insurance.

International shipping rates vary widely, so international rates for items under 1 oz. are quoted with first class shipping. Items over 1 oz. require priority mail shipping which is more expensive. International buyers are responsible for any duties, customs and taxes levied by their individual countries.

In any instance where the quoted shipping rate is more than $1 different when your item actually ships, I refund the shipping overage to your Paypal or Etsy transaction.

I generally ship items once per week, so if you require expedited delivery, please feel free to convo me.
Refunds and Exchanges
I routinely issue refunds on shipping should the actual cost of shipping your package be less than what I paid for postage + shipping supplies. When the actual difference in shipping costs totals more than $1, I refund the remainder via PayPal or Etsy.

If for some reason you are not satisfied with your purchase, your purchase is lost or damaged, or any other potentially problematic situation with your order - PLEASE contact me. I will work to resolve any issues brought to my attention in the most expedient manner possible.
Additional policies and FAQs
I welcome custom orders! Please plan that any custom order will take at least 8 - 12 weeks, based on the availability of materials and the number of current orders I am processing. These orders are generally worth the wait though, as you can customize the type of clay, the glazes, and to some extent the forms! Convo me at any time with potential custom items.

In general, when securing a custom order, I will work with you to create an estimate for the order. I will then create a custom listing for you to purchase. Once payment is received, I will begin your order. Since I work in a community studio, I do not have direct control over the firing and processing schedule for pieces - but I am more than willing to provide updates during this process.
