    About IronbridgeYarns

    Sales 210
    On Etsy since 2018

Hello! Welcome to my Yarn Studio!

After learning to knit when I was a child, and finally learning to crochet when I was 18, I loved to make blankets and shawls but was intrigued by the sock-knitting bug that seemed to be everywhere on Instagram! So a few years ago, after learning to knit my first socks with sweaty acrylic (!) I also discovered hand dyed sock yarns and fell in love with them. It remained a dream to dye yarns myself ever since, but due to my day job at the time (which was a business run by my mum, sister and I, 5 days a week 9-til-5) I didn't have anywhere near enough time to devote to it. In December 2017 we had to close our business unavoidably and I then began to seriously consider finally opening a shop to sell my own hand-dyed yarns.

I live in Shropshire, a county in England full of beautiful views and picturesque villages. It was also the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution back in the 1700's - the many interactive museums in the area tell the story and are fascinating to explore! My elder sister and I were home educated and loved to do many history and science projects based on Ironbridge and the surrounding area.

After my sister married and moved away, and my parents and I decided to downsize our house and move from my hometown of Wolverhampton to Telford in Shropshire, I decided to rebrand my shop to a name more suited to where I live, and it has a big meaning to me personally as well - I love that on a smaller scale I also have my own industry happening in my back garden!

I dye my yarns in a little dye studio (aka pent shed!) in my back garden - for the first time I have running water and plenty of space to work!

I really hope you find something you like, and please keep checking back here as I will continue to experiment with different colour combinations and effects.

More Information about Hand Dyed Yarns

Dyed with professional grade non-toxic acid dyes, using ethically sourced non-mulesed yarn.

Colours can vary between viewing monitors. Please DO NOT rely 100% on the image that you see in the photos as being a full reflection of the yarn.

All my yarn is hand-dyed in small batches, so no two skeins are identical although they are dyed in batches. I always recommend alternating skeins or knitting from both ends of the same ball if you are worried about colour pooling or mismatching.

Every attempt has been made to remove all excess dye from the yarn, however a little may remain, especially with dark or strong colours. So I always advise that you handwash your items alone and avoid using fabric softener. Reshape whilst damp and dry flat.

    Payment

Payment is via PayPal, Apple Pay, Android Pay, or credit/debit card, whichever you prefer!

    100% Eco Friendly Packaging!

The environment and global issue of plastic waste is very important to me in my everyday life and I have taken steps to have the same mentality in my yarn business.

    • Your goodies will arrive in a 100% recyclable super-thick paper mailing bag (larger orders and some international orders will be sent in a 100% recyclable LDPE mailing bag) - with a paper address label and paper 'Thank You' sticker on the front.
    • The yarn will be wrapped in tissue paper.
    • The yarn has a card sleeve with fibre and care information.
    • A business card is included. I usually write a personal thank-you note to you on the back of this business card.
    • A sachet of Bird&Blend tea is included *in UK parcels*.
    • Some cellotape may be used to seal/waterproof.

    UK Postage

All UK packages are sent via ROYAL MAIL 2ND CLASS, but this does NOT cover you for loss or damage of your parcel. If you're concerned about compensation should your parcel go missing or arrive damaged (which is thankfully rare!) please choose the 'Signed For' postage option during checkout, it's only £1 to upgrade to Signed For!

Do remember, though, that if you choose 'Signed For' you will have to be at home to sign for your parcel!

If you need faster postage, you can upgrade to 1st Class Standard at checkout.

Domestic orders can take up to 2 weeks from dispatch to arrive, this is dependent on the postal system and local conditions such as weather and traffic problems, and is out of my control - your patience is really appreciated!

International Shipping to EUROPE / EU / AUSTRALIA / NEW ZEALAND

Orders to EUROPE / EU / AUSTRALIA / NEW ZEALAND are shipped via my country's STANDARD AIRMAIL postal service, which does NOT cover you for loss or damage of your parcel. If you're concerned about recompense should your parcel go missing or arrive damaged (which is rare!) please choose the 'Upgrade to Tracked and Signed' postage upgrade during checkout.

Remember, you must be at home to sign for your parcel when it arrives.

International orders can take up to 7 weeks from dispatch to arrive, this is dependent on shipping carriers and local conditions such as weather, and is out of my control - your patience is really appreciated! :)

International Shipping to UNITED STATES / CANADA

International orders are shipped via my country's INTERNATIONAL TRACKED & SIGNED postal service, but this DOES NOT COVER YOU FOR LOSS OR DAMAGE OF YOUR PARCEL. By buying you accept full responsibility if the parcel goes missing or arrives damaged over such a long distance. Thank you for understanding.

International orders can take up to 7 weeks from dispatch to arrive, this is dependent on shipping carriers and local conditions such as weather, and is out of my control - your patience is really appreciated! :)

    "Where's my order?"

If your order hasn't arrived after the time required from dispatch (2 weeks for UK, 7 weeks for international), please contact me and I'll do everything in my power to help you.

I obtain proof of posting for every parcel sent, so *if you didn't choose to pay extra for insured postage*, I'm so sorry but I'm unable to issue a refund.

If you have chosen the insured postage but the tracking shows it has been delivered, again I am unable to issue a refund.

Due to the expensive handmade nature of my products, replacements for lost items are not possible, only refunds *if you have chosen to pay extra for insured postage* and the tracking shows it has not been delivered.

Thank you so much for your understanding and patience!

    Returns

Under The Customer Contracts Regulations 2013, if you are within the European Union you have 14 days from receipt of your order to return any unwanted items.

If your order is worth £42 (GBP) or less, goods can only be returned if they are faulty.

Items must be returned in brand new and saleable condition.

Return postage cannot be reimbursed under any circumstances.

Upon receipt of the returned item(s), they will be checked over and then the refund will be issued to the original payment method.

Details can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/online-and-distance-selling-for-businesses

Will you ship abroad after Brexit?

At the moment I'm not entirely sure - I'll be keeping an eye on how the process will work after Brexit and how the exchange rates change - if it is still cost effective and not too much of an intricate process I will definitely still offer international shipping.

To make sure you don't miss out, though, be sure to order before Brexit happens! 😉

Why is your username 'PebbleBeachYarns' when your shop name is 'Ironbridge Yarns'?

Well, when I first started on my yarn-dyeing journey, I registered as Pebble Beach Yarns here on Etsy - since then they've removed the ability to change usernames, so although my shop name changed in November 2018, to match my exciting house move to Shropshire, I've been unable to update my username to match - I'm so sorry if it confuses any of you!
