Frequently asked questions
How do I measure my head?
To measure your head size place a flexible tape measure around your head so that it runs across your forehead just above your eyebrows and ears so that it includes the widest part of your head. The tape should feel comfortable and not be pulled too tight. Measure your head 2 to 3 times to be accurate.
How do I look after my hat?
As with all my millinery creations this item is not designed to be worn in the rain as this may cause the headpiece to loose its shape. If you hat becomes wet blot off excess water with a soft cloth, reshape and leave somewhere warm to dry. Scrunched up acid free tissue paper can help to shape the crown. Do not place on direct heat e.g. radiator as this may cause shrinkage.
Store in dust free place - a hat box is idea as it this also protects from sun’s bleaching effect. Handle your hat by the brim, rather than crown whenever possible.
Felt hats should be lightly brushed with soft clean brush. If you hat becomes marked initially try to remove these with a soft dry cloth - if this doesn’t work you could try a damp cloth.
How do I wear my hat?
Please look at the photos for an idea - experiment and have fun!
Cocktail & percher hats are designed to be worn at an angle towards the front of the head.
If your hat comes with millinery elastic this should be taken around the back of the head, the hat should then be put into its wearing position, then cover the elastic with your hair.
If you hat comes with hair comb slide it forward or towards the position you are wearing the hat. Two kirby hair grips placed across each other can be used where the comb will be pushed to provide an anchorage point. If it has comb and elastic - put elastic around back of head, slide in comb so the headpiece is in its wearing position, then cover the elastic with your hair.
