Born from a love of illustration, design and an obsession with stationery, Isabell’s Umbrella is a boutique paper goods design studio located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ashley Giessing, together with her husband, Mathew, make up the creative team behind this brand.

All hand-made and homegrown, Isabell’s Umbrella was launched from a basement office in 2008 with a firm belief in the beauty of a handwritten note.

With thousands of online sales, years of vending at local events, and a collection of wholesale accounts under their belt, Ashley's dreams were realized with the launch of their paper goods line at the 2014 National Stationery Show in New York City.

Ashley continues to expand her paper goods line at home in the evenings, designing away after her children are tucked in for the night. Her husband keeps her company by packing up their online shop orders, printing using their vintage letterpress or by reading to her from a selected novel. During the day, Ashley works nine-to-five as a graphic designer and art director. Her talent flows nocturnally over into everything Isabell’s, from greeting card designs to gift-wrap patterns to packaging materials. Each card is printed individually and hand-folded by Ashley and Mat before it is packaged and shipped. Her labels are hand-cut and applied one at a time. The tidy boxes of cards, bundles of tags, and notebooks tied in twine are a true reflection of the care and quality she puts into every one of her items.
