I made something...I sold something...I kept on making and selling somethings

I started sewing when I was just a little girl with scraps from my mom's fabric bin. The urge to create and sew only grew as I entered adulthood. Folks seemed to dig the things I was making so in 2008 I decided to try selling a few of the items I made. Early on I made mostly canvas wallets, belts and bags. Then one day, because I needed one for my own guitar, I made a guitar strap. I decided to make a few guitar straps and try them out at a craft fair I was participating in. To my surprise, they sold immediately. Soon after, I added guitar straps, ukulele straps, banjo straps, mandolin straps and camera straps to my Etsy line up.

Over the years I've had the opportunity to connect with thousands of musicians through my straps. It's been a wonderful learning experience, one that couldn't have been possible without Etsy. My customers, family, and friends have all helped refine the product and make it awesome. Since 2008, Island Provisions has helped financially support my organic farm (Peace of the Earth Farm), and my household. Also, in 2013, with money earned from island Provisions, I was able to move forward with a silk screening business, Shiloh Threads ( Island Provisions and Shiloh Threads together make up my full time job. I'm still farming too, though less for production, and more for my own family's sustenance. Of course, I couldn't resist making useful items with ingredients from the farm...I even opened an Etsy shop featuring teas, tinctures, salves, and other herbal goodies made with herbs from my farm. It would be great if you could check it out:

Making useful items out of very simple materials is the foundation of my little business. My items are not fancy, and they're not complicated. We all need basic and well made items in our everyday lives. It's always a bonus when these items can be made out of canvas instead of leather. Thanks for your interest in what I do. I'd love to connect with you, feel free to send me a conversation any time!

A long long time ago, I started sewing with scraps of fabric from my mother's fabric bin...I may have just been a little girl, but the fascination to create something useful and beautiful from something simple has never left me.
