I LOVE these chalkboard labels! I've purchased these multiple times from this shop. Each time I organize an area of our home, I order more! So far they've been used for pantry items, shoe baskets, craft bins ... there really is not end to their many uses. Thank you, Its & Bits, I love them!!
Its-n-Bits-n-Things is a mother/daughter run business. I'm Sarah (AKA "Mom"), and my daughters are Hope and Shailyn, ages 14 and 16. I am teaching my girls crafting, business skills, photography, and customer relations through the wonderful world of Etsy, although often times I am as much of a student as they are! We hope you enjoy our blend of whimsy and old-fashioned charm in items that are both useful and affordable.
How We Started
In the fall of 2013, Sarah and Hope were offered the amazing opportunity to go on a short-term mission trip to Thailand to work with Karen children who are refugees from Burma.* Obviously, a trip like that would cost money, so we immediately began brainstorming ways to raise the funds. Staci Brown (sister-in-law/aunt), owner of The Velvet Vine suggested opening an Etsy store! Starting with our fabric/burlap covered corkboards, we opened Its-n-Bits-n-Things in December 2013. We've been hooked ever since!
About The Owners
Sarah: My wonderful husband Tucker provides me with the privilege of staying at home with our four children, Hope (16), Shailyn, (14), Timothy (10), and Trenton (8). We live beside the beautiful Bitterroot River in a small Montana town. The girls and I also sell our crafts at our local Farmers Market, where we enjoy the face-to-face customer interaction which that venue brings. I love old books, fresh-baked bread, flowers, and COFFEE. As a mom and teacher, there's not always measurable visible progress in the day-to-day busyness of life - dishes are always dirty... laundry always needs folding... somebody is ALWAYS hungry....and didn't I JUST clean the bathroom? Building beautiful, useful items for our Etsy store gives me a creative outlet and sense of accomplishing something tangible with my hands, which is really quite thrilling!
Hope: I am sixteen years old and live in Stevensville, Montana. I am the oldest of four kids. Dogs, horses, and dolphins are my favorite animals. We have a boxer named Mattey and three miniature Hereford cows - May, Basil, and Daisy. I love to swim and play sports like volleyball and Ultimate Frisbee.
Shailyn: I am 14 years old and will be in the 9th grade this year. I live in a house by the river with my mom and dad, older sister, and two little brothers . The things I like to do best are swimming and horseback riding.
*Sarah and Hope went to Thailand in February of 2014. In Mae Salit at Shekinah School along the river that borders Thailand and Burma, they taught school classes, took sewing machines for sewing lessons, did village outreach, and just plain loved on those Karen kids. It was a life-changing experience. You can read more about it on our Facebook page here:
We are now working on saving funds to go back as a whole family in 2016.

Hi, my name is Hope, and I am sixteen years old. I started Its-n-Bits-things with my sister Shailyn. We got the idea from our Aunt Staci, who owns The Velvet Vine on Etsy. I am raising money from this business to go on a mission trip to Thailand.

We have partnered with Restoring Hope Nepal and the girls in the Safe House in Kathmandu to help them pursue the possibility of making livings for themselves by selling their wares on Etsy.
