logo design + love for your brand.
▸ So, I Design Logos...
Hi, I am Meredith Myers, a graphic designer by profession and I can say for sure #ilovemyjob. Combining design theories, real art mediums, color and typography to develop dynamic and unique works of art is what I love best. I discover the utmost essence of a business and then I work directly with my clients to develop beautiful design compositions that presents their business perfectly and professionally!
▸ J+M History
I began Jack and Mo in 2008. J+M started as a fun, on-the-side project that challenged me artistically and intellectually. I found that branding quickly became a perfect fit for me as with each new project, I have the opportunity to explore a wealth of informational disciplines: ranging anywhere from the medical field to currency exchange, yoga + pilates, heath + wellness, furniture making, app + software development, stores, boutiques, product development, wine making, coffee roasting, restaurants and so much more.
I am constantly learning, reading, researching, exploring. Could I possibly be any more lucky to do this as a profession?!?
I started with a few clients who were happy with their results and passed my name along. Those clients in turn passed my name along and the cycle continued. Here I am, so many years later- with clients all over the world!
In 2011, I decided to leave a full-time position as a Creative Director for another company and do J+M all the time.
Developing unique and original branding and marketing strategies that my clients feel accurately reflects who they are is my true passion.
▸ Experience + Education
My experience includes serving 4 years as the Creative Director and Production Manager for a national, weekly publication (with a circulation of more than 100,000 each week) and a rockin' apprenticeship at a strategic communications firm (who have won some great awards like the ADDY, AIGA, SABRE, Pinnacle Business, Holmes Report, Telly and more.) I walked away with a wealth of knowledge and experience worth gold. I hold a BA in Graphic Design from Peace College (William Peace University) where I graduated with honors and received the Artemisia Excellence in Art Award.
▸ Life + Interests
You can usually find me in my studio with a huge cup of coffee (often sprinkled with eraser dust, gross, right?), downtempo, binaural beats, classical or hip-hop on loud and designing logos like a champ. I have an 8-year-old son named Jackson, a hubby, Britton, a ridiculously cute Australian Labradoodle named Moose and a moody little hot dog dachshund named Miller. These four are my world. When I'm not working, you might find me hanging out with my fam, cooking something deliciously healthy or rearranging my furniture for the one-millionth time.
▸ My Mantra
I believe in treating others with kindness; I believe in minimalism and not buying a ton of “ stuff ”, spending time outside enjoying sunshine and fresh air, and reminding myself how fortunate I am to lead a happy, healthy life. I love that through Jack + Mo, I am able to truly help others build the businesses they dream of and make a positive impact worldwide. As sappy as that sounds, it is 100% true!
Owner, Logo Designer Extraordinaire
I love art in any form and enjoy bringing traditional art mediums to the screen- from India ink and watercolor, to a good 'ol sketch with graphite. You can usually find me in my studio with a huge cup of coffee often sprinkled with eraser dust.

Additional policies and FAQs
An easier to read format is available on the J+M website!
Please thoroughly read all policies below. Each client is responsible for being aware and following these policies. I wish there weren’t so many things to read! But the more I do this, the more I realize what information clients need upfront. As a buyer you are accepting all policies upon purchase.
After a purchase is made, the client has 30 days to initiate contact. If no contact is made after 30 days, the project expires.
If at any point the client discontinues communication, fails to submit necessary content or corrections for 30 days or more, the project will be null and void. In the event of an unexpected event that will delay your design project, please reach out to me prior to the 30-day mark to make arrangements.
(3) TURNAROUND TIME: CUSTOM DESIGN PROJECTS
All project timelines should be discussed before a project has begun.
Projects are scheduled once payment has been received.
Delays in receipt of questionnaire responses will result in later scheduling.
Turnaround time is typically scheduled approximately 3 weeks from the date questionnaire responses are received. The fluidity of a creative project occasionally requires longer. As the sole designer for Jack + Mo, instances of personal sick days, family matters, or inclement weather could potentially prolong wait times if applicable.
Design projects other than logos + branding packages are typically scheduled 2 weeks from purchase date. Additional business collateral pieces in a branding suite or starter kit can take 2-3 weeks to complete per design item.
I do my absolute best to stay on schedule but do balance a high demand. I give each and every design project the time and attention it deserves before moving on to the next in queue.
(4) TURNAROUND TIME: PRE-MADE DESIGN PROJECTS
The initial design for review for pre-made designs is submitted to the client within 1-3 days.
(5) NO CHECK-IN EMAILS
Do not send check-in type of emails for any reason. Think of it as "no news is good news." Responding to check-in emails takes valuable time from a work day. I'd much rather be creating than writing emails!
(6) PHONE CALLS
All phone calls must be scheduled. Standard fees apply.
(7) QUESTIONNAIRE RESPONSES = CONTRACT
All answers given in response to a design questionnaire determine the direction of your project. Think of your answers as a contract. Questionnaire responses are your formal request for design. If after reviewing the initial concepts you decide you’d like to go in another direction with the design (i.e. a different illustration or concept), that is certainly okay however additional fees will be incurred.
(8) POINT OF CONTACT
For each design project, there must be 1 point of contact. If a group of individuals must approve a design, the group must choose 1 representative to maintain contact. The point of contact person may not change during the design process.
Clients purchasing commissioned business collateral projects must have content (text and images) prepared. All components should be submitted via email. J+M is not responsible for writing or editing any content unless discussed and included in the pricing.
(10) REVIEWING DESIGN CONCEPTS
Once design concept(s) have been submitted to the client, a written response with edit requests or approval is required within 3 business days. Responses received after 3 business days may delay the editing/design refining process. If you expect you may need more than 3 days, please send me a note letting me know.
Each specification for editing a design project should be written out in a numbered, itemized list. Edits apply to one design (not to multiples) and do not include several variations on the design, but a single new composition based on edit requests. Following the directions I email is required for submitting proper feedback.
Each commissioned design piece is allowed 3 rounds of edits unless otherwise noted. The fees for any additional rounds of editing will depend on the estimated time it will take to make the edits.
(11) RESPONSIBILITY TO PROOF
It is the client’s responsibility to proof all content before submission as well as any file (draft, proof or final) sent by me. If final files have been sent and an error is found or a change is necessary, please inquire directly for editing pricing. The client is 100% responsible for all proofing.
(12) EDITS VS. NEW ILLUSTRATION
Rounds of edits do not include new illustrations or new designs.
(13) IMAGE AND FONT LICENSING
It is the client’s duty to secure proper licensing for images or font styles, if necessary.
A 25% convenience charge will be deducted from the amount paid from any custom project where a refund is requested. Beyond this, the stage of the design process and the amount refunded will be determined by Jack and Mo. Refunds for pre-made designs are not available. Refunds for web design and website projects are not available. Refunds of any kind will not be available after 60 days.
(15) PRICING QUOTES
All quotes for custom projects are valid for 14 days. Pricing listed on the website is subject to change.
Any custom design listed for sale does not include custom illustrations of people, pets, animals or mythological creatures. This type of design style takes quite a bit of time. Please inquire directly for custom portrait pricing.
(17) FINAL LOGO FILES
Any design project is complete once I have customer approval and final files have been sent. Changes after final files will incur a fee.
Additional versions of a final logo beyond what is included in a standard package are separate purchases.
(18) RESUBMISSION OF FILES
If you happen to lose your files, a fee will be incurred to resend. I try to keep all files but I do not assure this.
(19) LOGO OWNERSHIP
Once a custom logo design is complete and I have submitted the final files via email, the client is the sole owner of the logo design and can print and redistribute in any way they see fit. The client does not own the rights to any other versions of the design or other concepts presented.
If any client wishes to keep our conversations, design progress and final design product confidential, a non-disclosure agreement can be provided by our attorney. Forms written by other parties are not accepted.
(21) J+M PORTFOLIO
All custom design projects may be showcased in my portfolio, including a version different than the logo version chosen by the client. If for some reason you would prefer for your project to remain confidential, please discuss this with me before we begin.
(22) COMMISSIONED VS. SOLD MORE THAN ONCE
Almost all J+M designs are commissioned artwork, meaning they are designed for only one client and will not be resold. There may be a few select pieces that have been created with the intention to be sold more than once (pre-made logo designs). Carefully read each item description. If something isn’t clear, please ask.
(23) SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS
From time to time I post designs, design progress, sketches and such on Jack and Mo social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, etc. If for any reason you do not want your designs shared, please contact me directly before we begin your project so that I am aware.
(24) HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
Each year, we will be closed for a week at Easter, a long weekend for Independence Day, a long weekend for Thanksgiving, a week at Christmas and the days of New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. This may delay projects before and after scheduled holidays.
The design process from start to finish is a journey of learning and discovery! In the beginning phases, there are many questions answered frequently.
Here are the most common.
WHAT IS THE TURNAROUND TIME?
Custom Branding Packages + Logos
Typically, initial design(s) are ready for review 3 weeks after I receive the logo questionnaire responses from a client. The process from that point forward can be a matter of days or several weeks depending on how many rounds of edits are needed, client response time, etc. The creative process is a fluid one, so sometimes the timeline may vary. Additional business collateral pieces in a branding suite or starter kit can take 2 - 3 weeks to complete per design item. Please reach out via email before purchasing a custom design package. We will discuss a timeline and a few design specifics before scheduling. I accept only a certain number of projects at a time and can let you know the next availability.
The turnaround time for deluxe pre-made logos is 1- 3 business days.
Other Design Projects
Design projects other than logos + branding packages are typically scheduled 2 weeks from purchase date.
ARE YOU AVAILABLE TO CHAT BY PHONE, FACETIME OR SKYPE?
YES! Due to the volume of design inquiries, free initial consultations are not available. A few of the highest level design packages include chats via phone or video. All other calls, FaceTime or Skype meetings will be billed as consulting. New clients that do wish to chat a bit before purchasing a package typically (which is perfectly ok!!) only need about 30 minutes to ask questions and get really familiar with my process. The consultation is billed prior to the scheduled call or video chat. Design consulting is billed at $100/hr in 30 minute increments. If you’d like to set up a time to discuss design packages and ideas, just let me know and we can schedule a time to talk via phone, FaceTime or Skype.
WHAT IS THE CUSTOM LOGO PROCESS LIKE?
1. Once a purchase is made, a logo questionnaire will be sent to you via email to understand the goals for your business identity. I ask questions about what sort of designs elements you like, ideas you have, brief company history, goals, and more. If you have questions, I am here to help!
2. I will review your answers and let you know if I need any clarification. Some design packages include a call or video chat to go over the details before I begin. I will summarize your design needs and specifics for you to review before designing to ensure I'm heading in the right direction!
3. The research and brainstorming phase then begins. I love this part!
4. Then, the design process begins. This is when I'm quietly in my studio working away. Most concepts begin as rough sketches on paper. Art mediums are implemented like India ink, watercolor, charcoal. Other times, illustrations are built digitally depending on the needs of the client. All designs created are completely unique and one of kind; designs are created by hand or drawn digitally. The logo designs are all new creations based on your questionnaire responses.
5. Once the design process has reached a point where I am really happy with the designs and ready for the client’s review, the logo design(s) will arrive in your email inbox with notes on the design components and instructions for review. The designs aren’t rough sketches on paper, they are designs that are close to final form.
6. You will review and make suggestions for improvement via an emailed list. If multiple designs were presented, you will choose 1 design (or components from a few) to move forward with and edit. If you need to see multiple design variations, that is certainly okay. Additional fees apply. We go back and forth with edits and reviews until you have the feeling of "YES! This is IT!"
7. Once the design receives client approval, all of the final files for the approved design will be submitted to you via email with an instruction sheet explaining each file type. Then you can use your final logo design files anywhere and everywhere! From this point forward, I am always available for technical support with your new logo. You may have questions or additional needs from time to time and I am always happy to help.
8. If your design package includes other business collateral pieces (like a business card, web graphics, etc.) we tackle those once the main logo mark is complete. You would be surprised how quickly the process goes once your logo is complete!
9. If you'd like to add on other projects down the road, that is certainly okay. There are no time restraints here! I've been doing this since 2008 and still have clients that I've been working with from the very beginning.
WILL THE LOGO DESIGN BE COMPLETELY UNIQUE?
Custom logo designs are 100% unique to your company. The design will never be used or resold in any fashion. You will be the one and only owner of the custom logo and may use, print, and reproduce as you like!
WHAT IS INCLUDED WITH MY FINAL LOGO DESIGN?
The approved logo design is delivered via email in a folder including the following:
AI (Adobe Illustrator file) ***
EPS and SVG (vector-based file created in Adobe Illustrator, intended for unlimited scalability) ***
PDF (with Illustrator editing capabilities)
JPG in RGB (3 different sizes intended for use on the web)
JPG in CMYK (for print)
PNG (with transparent backgrounds in 3 different sizes)
*** If you don't know how to use (or even open!) the AI, EPS or SVG file, that will certainly not pose an issue for you. The PDF, JPG and PNG files will be plenty to cover almost any logo design need you have. You can essentially put the other files (AI, EPS) on file for later if a need arises.
You will also receive:
Brand Color Palette (this will include the hex code #s and Pantone colors from your logo to apply to other branding material)
Your logo placed on a square format to easily fit profile images on all social media sites
An instruction sheet explaining each file type and when you should use each one
My technical support from now until the end of time if you have questions and/or issues with logo files!
My intentions are to equip you with many file types that can be used by anyone- graphically-challenged or a tech-guru.
You may run into instances where you need a specific size file (ex: 400 pixels wide x 200 pixels high or 300 pixels by 300 pixels, etc). In this case, you will need some form of editing software to resize a file, or you may need my help. There are also great free resources like pixlr.com that make it easy to resize an image to any specific pixel size.
Do you need other versions of the logo- like with or without the tagline? A different color? Watermark? Other file types? Additional logo versions are available as minimally priced add-ons.
WILL I BE ABLE TO EDIT MY LOGO DESIGN?
You can make edits to your logo design by working with the AI, EPS or PDF file in Adobe Illustrator.
At times, I have clients that additionally request a layered Photoshop file, so I offer the recreation of a logo in Photoshop as an add-on.
If you have further interest in file editing on your own, please check out my article: Image Editing
DO YOU OFFER WEB DESIGN AND CODING?
I can help you create any and all artwork you may need for your website- from fitting your logo in properly, to color palettes, fonts, background design, custom social media icons, headers, footers, slideshows, and other areas where custom art may be needed.
I don’t offer custom website coding and I don’t log in and personally edit a web template but what I can do is work directly with you or your programmer to create the artwork needed for a site.
Many of my higher level design packages include design components that will unify a website’s aesthetic with your new logo so additional graphics may not be necessary. Other design components needed are priced individually.
I DON'T SEE A DESIGN PACKAGE THAT FITS MY NEEDS EXACTLY. CAN YOU CREATE A CUSTOM ONE?
Yes, absolutely. In most of the design packages, items can be swapped out for other similarly priced design elements or a custom design package can be created based on your needs. Just ask!
MAY I PURCHASE A DESIGN PACKAGE AND ADD ON OTHER BUSINESS COLLATERAL PIECES LATER?
Absolutely. There are many clients that have been adding on design projects as the need arises for years. J+M has been in business since 2008 and will continue for many more to come!
I ALREADY HAVE A LOGO DESIGN. CAN WE STILL WORK TOGETHER?
Certainly! I can work with you to make edits to perfect the logo design you have, or we can use your logo and develop other artwork for your brand. This is absolutely not an issue.
MAY I PAY IN INSTALLMENTS?
J+M accepts Paypal, major credit cards, and checks. Payments are required before the design process begins. Installment payments are not available.
WHAT IS A “LOGO CONCEPT”?
A logo concept may have different meanings coming from different designers but from my desk, I call a “logo design concept” a new, original design made by me in what I envision to be very close to final form. A “logo concept” from me is not a rough sketch on paper or a design idea that is tough to decipher, but a full logo design featuring design elements we’ve discussed. I work this way because I discover new ideas and "happy accidents" as I am creating. I enjoy pushing designs to the limits and don't feel as free to explore with just pencil on paper developing initial design concepts.
WHAT IS A “ROUND OF EDITS”?
Quite simply put, a round of edits is a list of changes. Each request (example: "Can you make the font 25% smaller?") is not a "round" but just one request on your list. Your list really isn't limited to a certain number of changes.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN "EDIT" AND A "NEW CONCEPT"?
If your idea requires a new illustration or new design entirely, the request will be considered a new concept rather than an edit. Edits apply to color palette, typographic choices, design arrangement, spacing, sizing.
WHAT IS AN "EPS"?
An EPS is a rather complicated file. It is made from a series of lines rather than dots (pixels) and can be made infinitely large (even billboard size). An EPS is made in Illustrator rather than Photoshop or any other program. Logos made in Photoshop aren’t true vectors and therefore limit what you can do with them. I’ve written an article explaining the difference between pixels and vectors which may help: Vectors and Pixels.
WHAT IS A "BRAND COLOR PALETTE"?
Color palettes are one of my favorite things to create! With a brand color palette, there is a lot of flexibility. The palette can range from as few as 3 colors to as many as 10+. Each client's needs are different. If you have existing branding/a logo already, a custom color palette can be created to work in conjunction with your current designs.
Types of Color:
Hex numbers are web color codes (example: #4da694) that can be used a wide variety of places- website templates, blogs, design programs, desktop publishing programs. These color tones are quite versatile and ensure you use the same color each time (rather than trying to closely match a teal each time you use one, for example.) Pantone is a color matching system (often referred to as "PMS"- yes, seriously) that printers use to ensure an exact ink color is used. (example: Pantone 7724C)
WHAT IS A "TYPOGRAPHIC SELECTION"?
Essentially, these are font styles chosen to represent your brand. Typically, 2-3 fonts are selected as part of a branding suite.
WHAT IS A "SECONDARY LOGO MARK"?
Often, a condensed version of a logo is a versatile additional to a branding suite. This could be a more simple version of your logo design or supporting iconic art in some form. The specifics are tailored to the needs of an individual client or company.
WHAT IS A "PATTERN DESIGN"?
These are usually solid sheets of a design that can be used anywhere-- as a website background, business card design background, packaging design background. The designs range from very simple, soft repeating patterns to slightly more detailed art.
WHAT ARE "CUSTOM SOCIAL MEDIA ICONS"?
In the past, many clients requested custom social media icons that matched their finalized logo and other branding materials so I include them with some design packages. These are typically used in the header or footer of your website or email signature. They are image files of the social media logos that are created to match your branding.
WHAT DOES "LOGO FORMATTED FOR WEBSITE HEADER" MEAN?
Say for instance we finalize your logo and it's a square shape. However, on your website template your logo is required to fit within a small, horizontal space. Well, a square logo won't look it's best squeezed into a small, rectangular shape, right? So, we resize and rearrange the design elements to fit well on your web template if necessary.
WHAT IS THE "SOCIAL MEDIA PROFILE IMAGE"?
Most social media sites require your custom profile image to fit within a square or circular format (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.). Final logos are sized and fitted with nice general white space around the edges to look best when uploaded to social media.
WHAT IS THE "GENERAL STYLE AND DIRECTION FORH THE BRAND + STYLE GUIDE?"?
This is one-page document that compiles all design elements for your finalized brand, depending on what was included in your design package. Your logo will be showcased, other versions of your logo if applicable, brand color palette, typography, pattern designs, etc. This is a great way to reference your branding design elements for overall brand cohesion.
