Welcome to Jacobs Wooden Toys on Etsy!

Our dream was to have an online shop and here we are- 11 years and over 3,000 sales later, busier with every year:) Thank you to each and every one of our customers for choosing our product.
We love to offer our product online, while reaching audiences near and far, with a safe shopping experience from the comfort of your own home.
Our family lives in a small town in Alberta, Canada. We love it here, where store clerks know you and your kids (kids always look forward to their treat!), people greet each other on the street. It's a lovely slow paced life. We love summers here, where we can put our little boats outside for varnish to dry.
Building product and managing our online shop is a full time job for us. Tim is the talented man behind all our wooden items, who constantly works on design and manufacturing, improving the existing product for easier shipping.
The very beginnings of the business can be found over 30 years ago. We are very thankful to Tim's parents- Carl and Irene for the knowledge of building and running a business they have shared with us.
We use locally harvested pine/spruce from Northern Alberta and Baltic birch. We use up pretty much every piece of wood we have, as a lot of parts for the items we produce are small. Wood shavings from the shop we often use in our garden (our son Jacob loves to use them in his veggie patch:) and any extra surplus goes to the local compost.
We do not have additional employees, so everything that is built, is built by Tim. Brigita (me) helps with upholstering couches and beds, making sure questions/emails are responded to and orders filled on time... Life is very busy these days, but we are immensely thankful to all our customers for their continuing support by choosing our toys.

Q: I need an item fast, by a certain date. Can you guarantee the delivery date?
A: Unfortunately, we are unable to guarantee the delivery by a specific date. Once package is taken to the post office as soon as possible, we have no control from that point on how fast it will be delivered. Rush shipping unfortunately unavailable.
We can not be held responsible for any out of our control shipping delays (customs, Canada and USA holidays, weather etc.) once a package has been taken to the post office. If you are concerned about a possible delay, please contact us via Etsy and we will look into the matter for you to the best of our ability. We can not be held responsible for lost or stolen packages. It's the buyers responsibility to provide a safe place to receive mail. Thank you for your understanding.

Q.- Can I order your wooden hockey sticks in larger size, about 18 inches or longer?
A.- Our decorative hockey sticks can be made up to 12 inches size only. Thank you for understanding.

Q.: I am interested in buying several items, but when I add these items to my cart, shipping goes up quite a bit. How can I change that?
A.: Why not get a custom listing set up just for you! Simply contact us with a list of your items and your location and get a quick response from us with a special combined shipping rate savings. As our product varies in size and weight (from a single tug boat to a furnished dollhouse), it is very hard to determine an accurate combined shipping cost, when proceeding to Etsy checkout with several items in various sizes in cart. . Please don't hesitate to contact us about setting up a listing for you, as we reply promptly:)
Or, you can proceed to the checkout and any shipping overpayment will be refunded back to your account. Thank you!

Q.: I have not received my order yet and I live in the USA. It has been past the estimated delivery date.
A.: Although we do everything to ship your item(-s) out as fast as possible, sometimes parcels going to the USA experience postal and/or customs delays, that are beyond our control. The delivery times listed are estimates only and not guaranteed, unfortunately.
If your order has tracking number and it shows that package has been delivered, but you haven't received it, we suggest to check with your neighbors first to see if the mail was accidentally delivered to the wrong address by your mail carrier. If not, please contact your post office and ask them to provide the GPS coordinates to see where they delivered your package. Unfortunately, we can not be held responsible for misdelivered mail, caused by USPS error. Thank you for understanding.

Q.: Can I mark my purchase as a gift. so it does not include the purchase receipt?
A.: The purchase receipt is never included in our shipments, due to majority being sent as a gift. The receipt can be sent upon request.
If you are in Canada and mark your purchase as a gift, it allows the person you are buying for to know where it was purchased, but not how much you paid for it.
For the USA /International shipments - we can not mark purchases from our shop as a gift for customs declaration, as it is illegal, so please don't ask us to do it. Thank you for your understanding.
Marking as a gift does not mean gift wrapping (we can include a card upon request, at no charge).

Q.: What kind of paints/finishes do you use?
A.: We use AP Certified non-toxic paint, as well as non-toxic gloss finish (water base). We do not however recommend our peg dolls, for example, to children under 3y.o. who still place toys in their mouth.

Q.: Do your dollhouses and barn sets come in kit form?
A.: No. Our dollhouses, furniture and farm sets all come fully assembled, ready to enjoy! No building required.

Q.: Do you offer a free product for draws/giveaways/blog reviews/donations?
A.: You are welcome to use photos of our product and write about it in a blog... however, unfortunately we can not afford to give away free product for draws/giveaways/blog reviews/donations. Thank you for your understanding!

Q.: I am interested in purchasing your doll furniture set. What size doll would fit with it?
A.: Our furniture fits dolls/toys, that are about 3- 3.5 inches (up to 4 inches) tall. Smaller peg dolls and wooden bendy dolls from Plan toys, Calico Critters fit great with our furniture:) Please note: our doll furniture and accessories are scaled to fit our dollhouses and are not guaranteed to fit well with other dollhouses in the market. Please see the sizing listed with each furniture piece before ordering. Thank you!

Q.- Do you offer a discount to larger quantity purchases?
A.- Yes! We offer a discount on large orders of mini hockey sticks (100 or more), tug boats, TV sets (usually 10% with a purchase of 10 or more). Please contact us for details:)

Q.-What kind of packaging do you use to ship your items in?
A.- We use recycled packaging as much as possible. For filler, we normally use shredded paper, styrofoam peanuts, newspaper, flyers collected from local post office (all product is initially wrapped in plastic, to avoid any transfer of newspaper ink), as well as a bubble wrap and/or air pockets and cardboard boxes claimed from local businesses.

Q.- Can I get items shipped to more than one location?
A.- Yes! Please make a separate purchase for EACH ship-to address.

Q.- Can I get a note included with the shipment?
A.- Absolutely! Just let us know in the "Note to Seller" box and we will include a personalized note at no extra charge.

Q.- I have received an Etsy gift card, but unsure how to use it...

A.- Yes! Just contact us for more info, so we can adapt the lay-way to fit your preferences.

Q.- Do you offer larger dollhouses with more play space?
A.- No, we don't. Our dollhouses come in certain size to avoid overly expensive shipping charges. Thank you for your understanding.

Items for exchange/return must be in new condition and buyer is responsible for costs to ship item back to Jacobs Wooden Toys.

US Customers- items for refund need to be returned via USPS and marked as a "return item to Canada".

According to Paypal, E-Check payment processing takes approx. 3-5 business days. Your item(s) will be shipped once the payment is received.
You do not need a PayPal account to make a payment via PayPal.
You can choose the PayPal option during checkout. After you submit your order, click the “Pay Now” button. Scroll down and you will see the option to pay with a Credit or Debit Card WITHOUT having to sign up for a PayPal account.

Q.- What is your shipping schedule?

A.- Items are shipped Monday through Friday via Canada Post. Our post office is closed on weekends and Canada Holidays. Any purchases "ready to ship", made on a Friday evening, will ship out on the following Monday. Special orders may take longer to complete and ship.
We ship via Canada Post oversized letter mail, small packet mail, tracked packet mail and expedited parcel mail (most economical options).

Q.-I live in Canada. Why do shipping costs seem high if items are shipped within Canada?

A.- Shipping costs within Canada are higher for small parcels comparing to the USA. Unfortunately, Canada Post does not offer more economical shipping options for small parcels. The good news- you can save by combining several items to be shipped together. Please contact us for more info and shipping estimate, if you would like to purchase several items, as costs vary by province.

We send our product to you using the safest and least expensive method available. If you would like to add tracking to your small parcel, let us know BEFORE placing an order, and we will add the appropriate charges to your order.
PLEASE NOTE: tracked packet costs to the USA are significantly higher, but delivery times remain the same as for untracked parcels.

Shipping takes approx. 10 business days(Monday-Friday) via Canada Post air mail to most locations in the USA (once parcels cross the border, they are in a care of USPS). Times are estimates only and are not guaranteed. Customs may open or hold your package without any prior notice.
During Holidays, customs clearance can take 1-2 weeks. Please keep this in mind, when making a purchase during busy Holiday Season. Thank you!

Q.- Do you ship internationally?

A.- Due to high shipping costs and possible damage, unfortunately we are not able to ship our large items, such as dollhouses, barns etc. overseas, but we can ship doll furniture and small accessories. Please contact us for the shipping quote. Please keep in mind, international shipping does take a long time.
IMPORTANT: international customers are responsible for any customs fees, taxes, tariffs, duties, etc. that may be incurred at the time of delivery. These fees are not included in the shipping costs. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what your additional costs will be prior to purchase. Returns will not be accepted due to customs fees. Thank you for your understanding.
