Announcement    Here at J.A. Craghead & Co. we offer handcrafted, unique textiles and knit goods available nowhere else.

My Great Grandmother Anna came to Portland with her husband Paul in 1918 to open a German bakery on Southeast Belmont. While Paul spent his long days baking kuchen, pies, and rye bread, Anna taught my mother to knit in the Continental Style, a knowledge I later inherited.

Times have changed. Anna died in 1939, and when Paul followed her in 1940, the bakery closed. No longer did the smell of caraway waft over the streetcars clattering up the road to Mount Tabor.

Other things survived, however. Today, you can still find Anna's care in everything J. A. Craghead & Company offers. From our line of textile goods to our handknits, each piece is a handcrafted work of art available only in a limited quantities.

And if you have something specific in mind that you don't see here? Ask away! Whether in design or in materials, we welcome custom requests.

Warm Regards,

~Judy Craghead, Owner
