What to draw, what to draw?
I originally opened this shop in 2007 (then it was known as The Little Shop of Horus) and sold lots of different art here. I closed it temporarily in 2010 planning to take a few months off but... Anyway, here I am reopening in March 2013! During my break away from Etsy I have made some of the art I am most proud of, had exhibitions, won awards and painted a major commission.
One day last year, I was lacking inspiration so I challenged myself to draw an emotion a day in a tiny book. I started and was soon completely hooked on drawing emotions. It is fun! Usually what I do is choose an emotion, take a moment to "get into" it, then pull the face for it, look at myself in a mirror, put the mirror aside, pick up my pen and brush and draw. The emotion appears on my paper! I still am amazed how that happens.
I use only quality art materials. The paper that my drawings are on is artist quality although it may not always be new. I inherited some papers that are quite old and I use them sometimes. They are a treat to draw on! If the drawing is done on some of this "vintage" paper it may show its age in some yellowing on the edges or the odd mark or stain. I make sure these imperfections enhance the work, not detract from it! (Each listing will mention what type of paper the work is on.)
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me.
Hi, I'm a visual artist and I've been making things for as long as I can remember. I now live on the North Coast of New South Wales, Australia on the side of a hill overlooking beautiful a valley, with my husband and our adopted rescue dog Fuzzy.
This is the online destination for original artwork by Jan Allsopp. Please see the about page for additional information about me.

Additional policies and FAQs
I am very open to custom orders and requests. Please contact me via email or conversation about your special request.
My home is smoke free. I do have a dog who is my studio companion although you shouldn't see any sign of him on your artwork! I rarely work outside where there would be pollen. Please ask any questions if you have any concerns.
