About

Artwork for your home

"Art is not what you see. It's what you make others see." Edgar Degas

Thanks for visiting my Etsy shop. It is not currently stocked but the full range of my artwork and greetings cards can be found on my website (see link below). All artwork is made by me, mostly in my home studio in the historic city of York in the north of England.

I create art which I would be happy to display in my own home; pieces which bring pleasure and makes the world more beautiful. I love that people use my work to make their living spaces brighter and more welcoming. My work has now been bought and commissioned by both private and corporate clients around the world and has also been featured in a number of national magazines.

I use both relief and intaglio techniques, working with ink, in the western style, and with watercolour in the Japanese style. My linocuts, collagraphs and etchings are ink printed on heavy paper using either my antique cast iron book press or my twenty first century etching press, while my woodcuts are hand burnished onto finer Japanese paper using a bamboo baren. All printmaking techniques are labour intensive but the results make the effort worthwhile.

If you'd like to get my newsletters about latest work, events and other bits and pieces, please sign up at this link: http://eepurl.com/uDJ5b (Your details won't be passed to anyone else and of course you can unsubscribe at any time). There's a link to my blog below where I share demonstrations and tips and some of my daily life as an artist.

If you're in the UK then check out the events page of my website (link below) to find out where you can meet me or see my work in the flesh.

Welcome to my studio.
Everything here is by one person....me. All the items are original prints hand made by the artist one at a time, no reproductions. You'll find collagraphs, woodcut and lino prints and drypoint etchings.

Everything listed here is UNFRAMED to keep shipping as safe and as economical as possible. Any images on listings of artwork in frames are for illustration purposes only, to give you an idea of how the pieces could look in your home.

The paid invoice you will receive with your item will show a small image of the piece you have purchased so it also serves as a proof of provenance.

If you are new to Etsy, this helpful guide explains the shopping and checkout process:

Payment
Payment by PayPal or credit/debit card.
Shipping
Orders are shipped within 3 working days (unless a temporary announcement on the shop front page says otherwise - for instance if I am away at an exhibition or course). Orders within the UK will be sent either by Royal Mail First Class post or (larger items only) by a courier service. Goods over £20 will require a signature on delivery.

All international orders will be sent by airmail to get to you as quickly as possible, but please bear in mind this can still take a matter of weeks to some parts of the world (no I don't understand why either).
Please note that any customs fees or import charges incurred are the buyer's responsibility.

Depending on what is appropriate for the individual item, artwork is sent out packaged either:
1. In a board backed envelope
2. Sandwiched between card in a padded envelope or strong brown paper
3. Carefully rolled in a cardboard postal tube.
Refunds and Exchanges
I wouldn't send something out to you if I wasn't proud of it, but in the unlikely event that you change your mind after receiving the item, please let me know in writing as soon as possible (within 14 days). There is a cancellation form you can use at https://www.etsy.com/uk/help/article/5452 but you do not need to use this unless you want to - an email is sufficient. Send the item back to me within two weeks, still in as good condition as you received it, and I will refund the purchase price and the original shipping costs (but not the return shipping). Please note this is not applicable to customised items.

If your order arrives damaged then of course you will get a full refund. It might not be necessary to return the item (though I may need photographs of the damage so I can make a claim against the carrier) but if you do have to return it you will also get a refund of your return postage.
Additional policies and FAQs
LIMITED EDITION PRINTS - these are produced in a particular number, stated in the description, and no further prints will ever be made once these are sold. Often these prints have been made using the reduction method which means they are impossible to reprint because the original plate no longer exists.
OPEN EDITION PRINTS - for these prints the plate(s) is/are still in use and further prints may be made in the future. However remember that because each print is handmade, no two will ever be identical so you will still own a very special and individual piece.

Please note that when you buy a piece of artwork, you are buying that particular item, not the rights to the image. Copyright of all artwork remains with Jane Duke.
