Chicago-Based Visual Artist, Painter, and Muralist

Jason Brammer is known for his distinctive paintings created with a combination of airbrushing and traditional paintbrush techniques, meticulously detailed drawings, and mixed media works that showcase a unique melding of paint and objects. Brammer seamlessly incorporates 3-dimensional elements into his paintings, such as real antique parts and salvaged items he happens upon in the alleys by his studio. The attachments flow in and out of his pieces, creating an illusion that draws the viewer in for a closer look to see what is real and what is painted.

In the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago, Brammer makes artwork out of his private studio, which is filled with ever-changing piles of rusted chains, antique pulleys, vintage gauges, and other found treasures that inspire his work. In addition to paintings, he also does a lot of commissioned work, including murals, installations, album artwork, and more. Recent commissioned pieces include a large-scale public mural for the city of Chicago, an installation for social networking company LinkedIn, and concert posters for the bands My Morning Jacket as well as Robert Plant & The Band Of Joy.

Brammer was born in Lancaster, Ohio in 1974 and grew up primarily in Indianapolis, Indiana. His formal art education includes studies at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia and at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Brammer has been featured in numerous local and national art exhibitions and is in private collections from New York City and Toronto to Seattle and Los Angeles.
