Encaustic is an ancient art form that while durable, may distort in extreme heat or cold and mindfulness around shipping to avoid extremes is important. Also, note that encaustic medium is composed of Beeswax and Demar Resin and there's sometimes a natural bloom to the wax that can emerge over time. Encaustic paintings will not deteriorate or fade with time and do not have to be varnished or protected by glass. Polish occasionally with a soft cloth or your hand to remove any dust and return the lustrous finish of the wax. Provided the painting isn't in direct sunlight or extreme cold it will last for many generations.
