I graduated college with a BFA in Ceramics in 2000 while living in New Hampshire, and then moved west to discover so much more than I had ever intended. Those early years working as a potter and my journey entering true adulthood began in Montana . My one year commitment as an apprentice in Whitefish, Montana, turned into a 13 year stay in the beautiful state.
I've always enjoyed creating things with my hands. Pottery became a means to make a living, and at the same time fed my soul and offered me a place to feel safe, joyous and peaceful. My pottery is about feeling good, balanced, natural and alive. It is about creating something useful, functional and practical while also sharing energy with everything that crosses its path.
It has been hard defining what influences my work. My time in the high mountain dessert that I lived in for most of those 13 years was a place I became so much of the person I am today. I didn't see the fields of golden grasses, rocky mountain tops, and rushing rivers where I found solace to be reflected in my pottery until after leaving that incredible place. But it is more than just the picture and scenery. It is about the story.
I returned back to the place I was born and raised in 2013, the White Mountains of New Hampshire. It has been a new journey continuing to make pots, and establishing my 'own' studio. Like life, we grow and change, hoping to get better and better everyday, may it be in making better pots, or being a better human. This third phase of my life has endured much growth in both areas, and my influences feel so undefinable. The influence is in the story and all that tags along with those experiences. Emotion. Love. Loss. Pain. And Joy.
***
I have been making pottery since 1998. All of my work is handthrown stoneware, high fired in a reduction atmosphere to 2300 degrees. All of my glazes are lead free, and pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe.
I want to create pottery that is not only functional, but beautiful to sight and touch. An earthy and unique feeling in each pot makes for a comfortable piece to hold as you enjoy the goodness it contains. Sharing my work with others allows me to pass on my vision of the peace that nature brings me. Close your eyes and feel with your heart what another has created, and you too can create.
I currently show my work in Cello, a gallery in Bozeman, MT. In Conway, New Hampshire in the White Mountains where I live now, my work shows at Art Works in Chocorua, The Lyceum in Tamworth, Jackson Art in Jackson, The League of NH Craftsmen Gallery in North Conway, Concord, Littleton, Hanover, Hocksett and Nashua.
Thanks for looking through my shop and hopefully you will enjoy what you see. And check out my other shop on Esty, RePeace Goods, repeacegoods.etsy.com. It is a collection of repurposed fabric bags and other items, along with some vintage things too.

5 out of 5 starsBeautiful work as always! I love this mug design because no matter how fast or how rhythmically I walk, if my coffee splashes, it just splashes back into the mug, following the curved sides. Brilliant! Of course, with its colors and textures, this mug is also a feast for the eyes and hands as well.

5 out of 5 starsHi.....received both pour overs, but sad to say the yellow one didn't make the trip. I'll have to wait for my granddaughter to come over so I can take a picture of it to send to you. I don't have a smart phone. There both beautiful! I'll wait for your instructions..not sure what to do. Thanks you Helen.

Since graduating from Plymouth State College in 2000 after receiving my BFA in Studio Art, I had been working for other production potters along the way, creating a foundation of experience to be where I am now creating pottery for myself.
