Unique pieces created daily...no one day is ever the same!

My reason for crafting? My Grandmother! Taught at an early age to sew, embroider, knit (badly - Gran always blamed my left handedness!) & bake.

As an adult I returned to cross stitch as a hobby & then one day someone gave me a handmade card - I thought I can do that - & so a small successful greetings card business began. Then someone gave me some handmade jewellery & that was it - I thought I can do that... & an obsession with beads, ribbon & leather began.

Again, success in the real world encouraged me to venture online & now I find myself running my 'dream' business full-time on Etsy.

My designs have changed over time - I still love the pretty, cluster style bracelets I first started selling but a personal love of wrap bracelets has led me to develop different styles to sell on here. My love of leather wraps & any designs containing leather has been overtaken by an established hand-stamping side to the business.

Who wouldn't want to be part of a unique personalised gift for a loved one on their birthday, anniversary, wedding day....the list is endless & I never grow tired of saying to customers - 'Yes, I can stamp that message for you' - it gives me a thrill every time!

Where I will go next nobody knows... the beads, leather, aluminium & ribbon take me on their journey not the other way around!

Welcome to jcudesigns on Etsy!

I love creating jewellery and want all my customers to be happy with their purchases. Please feel free to contact me with any questions before or after purchase. However, you may find the answer you're looking for here. I will try to respond within 24hrs.

I aim to dispatch all items within 3-5 working days. However, most items are made to order and should I not be able to keep to this time frame I will contact you immediately to advise of a revised dispatch date. In periods of very busy activity I will place a notice in both my shop announcement and purchase email advising of extend processing times and my shipping times will show the increase. Again, circumstances beyond my control - for example, postal strikes or severe weather disruption - will be advised via the conversation function here on Etsy.

Custom made orders may also take longer to dispatch and again I will advise you of this.

*All items posted out within 1-5 working days by standard Royal Mail 1st class (UK) or International Standard Airmail (overseas from UK). Please be aware that Shipping times means how long it takes me to process ie make your order and not how long it takes to arrive to you. You need to add postal delivery times onto this shipping time.

*Standard Airmail DOES NOT have a tracking number nor is it traceable once posted.

*If you require a TRACKABLE method of postage then please contact me before purchase so I can set you up a custom listing. Please be aware that Tracking/Signed for does not speed up delivery but just provides information on where your item is in the system IF the postal providers keep their information up to date..

Estimated delivery times from Royal Mail (UKs postal provider)

*within UK 1-2 working days
*Europe 3-5 working days
*Rest of World inc US/Canada 5-7 working days

**In reality, this means UK parcels can take up to a week, Europe takes an average 1-2 weeks and Worldwide - especially US/Canada - can take 2-3 weeks, sometimes much longer! Often this is due to how long a parcel is held in customs by the receiving country. Once it leaves me it is out of my control, I'm afraid.

*Should you require a faster method of shipping then please contact me for a courier quotation. Prices vary depending on location and weight of your item and so prices vary. In most cases my couriers aim to deliver within 3-5 working days from collection.

*Purchasers are responsible for all local charges and taxes. Those ordering from outside the UK may be subject to import duties, fees and taxes which are levied after the package reaches their country and these are the responsibility of the purchaser.
Refunds and Exchanges
I want my customers to be happy and return to my shop - therefore, in most cases, I will happily refund the cost of your item plus postage charges should we not be able to resolve any issues.

Should an item be faulty or damaged please contact me before returning it. I will try to sort out any problems as quickly as possible (complying with the UK's Distance Selling Regulations). All refunds will be made via Paypal or via Etsy's direct checkout depending on your payment method.

Under the EU Directive on Consumer Rights June 2014, you now have 14 days from receipt to change your mind and return the item. Please note, you will receive a full refund of the original item and postage but you will be responsible for paying the return postage costs. This complies with the DSRs and they stipulate that all items must be returned.

Under the new regulations we have to offer a cancellation form for customers use - it is optional but regulations stipulate we have to have one available. If you require a cancellation form please request one and I will email it to you.

Royal Mail do not consider an item of mail lost until

10 workings days has passed for UK deliveries
20 working days has passed for European deliveries and
25 working days has passed for all other deliveries (rest of world)

This is the number of days AFTER the expected date of delivery (ie after the estimated delivery times in my Delivery policy.) Should an item not arrive within this time frame then I will consider it 'lost' and will refund. Please allow that amount of time stated before contacting me regarding a refund. I've had UK parcels take 3 weeks to get to their destination and US parcels sometimes longer (up to 6 weeks on occasions!!!)

For custom made items no refunds or exchanges can be given. The EU Directive on Consumer Rights June 2014 do not apply to custom makes and therefore should the item not fit due to you not measuring your size correctly or not informing me of the correct size I cannot be held responsible.

All my listings clearly state measurements in both inches and centimetres.

I will gladly refund due to my errors - I'm not superhuman and, sometimes, errors occur - but I cannot be held responsible for customer error and so, will not refund on these occasions.
Additional policies and FAQs
• The findings used in your jewellery are only plated or base metal alloys unless otherwise stated in the listing. Plated means a thin layer of silver has been layered over a base metal of either copper or brass. Over time this plating can wear off.
• Tarnishing can sometimes occur. This happens when the metals react with the natural oils in the skin. Unfortunately, the balance of some peoples’ skins causes this darkening to happen quickly. If some of the plating has started to wear & shows the base metal then this can react with your skin & darken the rest of the metal. You can try & polish the metal up with a jewellery polishing cloth or propriety jewellery cleaner. Silver can also tarnish when exposed to the air so try to keep your jewellery away from other pieces or being left out to try & diminish the chances of oxidisation.
• Jewellery findings are not indestructible; unfortunately thin metal can break & sometimes clasps malfunction. Try not to expose your items to any undue stress or get them caught up as this may lead to breakages.
• Repairs on faulty findings & clasps will be carried out within 6 months of purchase; upon return, if the fault is due to wear & tear then I may need to invoice you for repairs. Postage costs will need to be met by you for any returns to me & I will repair & return at my own cost.

If you see something you like but would prefer different colours/findings please message me and I'll see what I can do. I can also make pieces to individual requirements - again just contact me.

All metal products used are plated unless otherwise stated. I try my best to source nickel free items but cannot guarantee that all findings used are nickel free. However, please be aware that some people still react to plated jewellery. My descriptions will advise if findings used are plated or sterling silver or other metals.

There is always a debate over what is handmade - peoples' opinions vary greatly. I wish to confirm that most of the metal components, charms and findings I use are not made by me - I do not have the facilities to cast metal charms or findings!! However, I spend a lot of time sourcing quality components from around the world and I design & put the necklaces, bracelets etc together myself. I do NOT buy items in wholesale. So, even if it is a charm & beads placed on a chain - I have spent time creating it and therefore, in my opinion that is handmade by me.

Many of my unique pieces have metal & ceramic components created by artisan makers from around the world. Some pieces also have charms stamped by me and if I have created any of the components myself I have made this clear in my listings. If you have any queries on how a piece has been made then please contact me.

Please also consider that colours may vary slightly due to digital reproduction or monitor settings.

Items are made in a SMOKE-FREE home but NOT a pet-free home - please be aware of this if you are allergic to cat fur. My animals are not allowed near my creations but I would not be able to say 100% there is no pet traces as my animals have lived with me for a long time and pet hair unfortunately is easily transferred around the home.
I really hope you enjoy looking at my designs as much as I enjoy making them!

Frequently asked questions

Where do I tell you my personalisation details?

Use the drop down menus to enter your initial information. Any additional information eg. font choice or quotation details, can be written in the message to seller box that appears when you place an item in your basket.

Does this item come gift-wrapped?

All my items are sent out in a white, recycled, glassine bag closed with a strip of colourful washi tape. If you are sending this directly to the recipient I can add coloured twine instead and attach a hand-written tag for you - just ask!

Alternatively you can purchase a jewellery box from my shop https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/207824089/gift-box-upgrade-for-jewellery-bought

How can I track my item?

If you have selected standard domestic or international postage then you can't. Tracked and/or signed for services are considerably more expensive within the UK and I offer this to you as a shipping upgrade. If you want to track your item then you MUST purchase this upgrade on purchase.

Please be aware that this upgrade does NOT speed up delivery but just gives you a means of seeing where your item is. Also, please be aware that some postal providers are not very efficient at updating the tracking information. There is no need to contact me regarding this - I can only access the same information as you through the same websites.

How long will my item take to arrive?

Full details - including approximate timings - can be found in my policy section. Please allow my making time - the dispatch time given in my shop. This is usually 3-5 working days but at busy times can be extended to 1-2 weeks.

International buyers please be aware that items can take anywhere from 1-6 weeks to arrive. Items can be subject to various delays including customs, bad weather, strikes and seasonal delays. How long it takes is completely out of my control, I'm afraid.

If you require an item in a hurry then I can obtain a Courier delivery quotation for you. In most cases they aim to deliver 3-5 working days from parcel collection. You will still need to allow my dispatch times (the times it takes for me to make your item).

How do I look after my jewellery?

Full details can be found in my policies.

Please be aware that no jewellery should be subject to shower gels, bath foam oils, soaps, body lotions, sun cream and oils etc and especially perfume!! These all contain chemicals that can have an adverse affect on your jewellery items.

The metals used can also react to your skin moisture/oils in some instances which can leave marks on your skin and/or tarnish the metals. Please read my policies or contact me with any further concerns.

Custom and personalised orders

Full details can be found in my policies.

If your item has been personalised to your requirements then, no. The EU Directive on Consumer Rights June 2014 does not apply to custom makes.

If you have bought a generic hand-stamped item then items can be returned/exchanged due to sizing issues etc but if you have added a unique design or message then this cannot be returned nor refunded.

If you have made a mistake in giving me personalisation details eg the wrong date, name, co-ordinates etc, then I am sorry, but under the EU directives, I do not have to refund or exchange the item. I will be happy to remake the item but this will be subject to additional costs which may be the same as the original item cost.

What is hand-stamping?

Hand-stamping is when a metal stamp - a letter or a design - is placed on metal and hit with a hammer. The force of the blow leaves a mark in the metal. Each letter of a message or design aspect is added one at a time. The metal is displaced and so there may be marks left on the rear of your item that cannot be polished out.

As all the stamping is done by hand there may be variations in spacing, alignment and depth so please don’t look on these as flaws. I am not a machine that etches/engraves perfectly – any variations should be regarded as characteristics unique to your piece. A quote is unlikely to be in a completely straight line as the letters are lined up by eye. I try my best!

Why is my aluminium item so light?

I use pure Aluminium for most of my hand-stamped jewellery. It is an extremely lightweight metal - think soft-drinks cans and tin foil!

Many people are initially surprised by the weight as they expect it to feel as heavy as silver does (a much heavier/denser metal) but it makes it extremely comfortable to wear.

It is a cost effective alternative to silver, is hypo-allergenic and doesn't tarnish like silver does.

Will my item arrive in time for Christmas?

Unfortunately, I cannot guarantee this! Once an item leaves me it is completely out of my control on how long its journey takes.

The last recommended dates for Christmas deliveries and delivery estimates can be found in my policies and shop announcement. Please be aware these are only RECOMMENDATIONS - can I suggest you order early, allowing plenty of time for your gifts to arrive.

Last year, my international deliveries - I'm based in the UK - were taking up to 4 weeks (and sometimes longer!).

I'm afraid I cannot be held responsible for any item not arriving in time for gifting. Full details on returns of late gifts can be found in my policies.
