About JDevinEmbroidery

Embroidery artist specializing in the technique of needle painting.

I am a professional embroidery artist. I was taught to stitch by my mother and grandmother when I was a child. I went to art school at the age of 21. I've loved art all my life, but wasn't able to find the medium in which I was proud of my work, until I found embroidery. Embroidery changed my life and has opened so many wonderful doors. I pride myself in my workmanship and quality. I consider embroidery to be a beautiful and complicated art form. It can be difficult but worth every second.
My work has been featured multiple times in Stitch Magazine, as well as in New Media International and Sewliloquies.
Every piece I create is special and unique. They're made with love and attention to detail. On average, a needle painting takes around 60 hours to complete, and around 70 or more colors of floss are used. My finished pieces come mounted and laced on archival mat board., which is the proper way to mount textile artwork. They are then double matted, ready to be framed. It’s recommend to use museum glass or anti-glare, UV protection plexiglass as the glazing in your frame. I can frame the piece for you if you wish, and create a custom listing for the framing process and the frame itself.

Each embroidery comes with an official Certificate of Authenticity that certifies it as an original piece of art created by myself. They are packaged with the upmost of care to be shipped.

I am open for commissions at this time. If you’d rather have something embroidered that can be used instead of hung on the wall, let me know. Almost anything can be embroidered. I’ve embroidered things like shoes, clothing, bags, place-settings, i.e. napkins and place-mats, gloves, hats, etc. Please don’t hesitate to ask for something you’d like. All my pieces are made to last for a very long time. The stitches are extremely secure and can even be washed in the washing machine on gentle cycle.

Since I stumbled upon embroidery, I’ve been creating nonstop. I specialize in a technique called needle painting. Although I still practice many techniques of surface embroidery. I love embroidering birds and flowers, especially hummingbirds.

How do you ship your unframed artwork?

Un-Framed embroidered artwork will first wrapped in archival tissue paper. Then placed in an 11.5x14.5 proof box, along with the certificate of authenticity, care instructions, and framing advice. The proof box is wrapped with a water-proof florist paper and a ribbon is tied around it. It’s then wrapped with shipping paper, for protection. All is then placed inside a rigid shipping box.
I take a lot of pride and care in how I ship my work. And do everything in my power to make sure it will arrive safely.

Can you frame my embroidered artwork?

Yes, absolutely. I do charge for the cost of the frame and glazing (glass), but not the framing process. The cost depends on the frame itself, and wether or not museum glass or UV protected anti-glare plexiglass is preferred. All my artworks will come with a double mat board of a single 8 ply mat board, so that it doesn’t touch the glazing. The frame is sealed with framer’s paper on the back of the frame. Note that one of certified sticker for the Certificate of Authenticity’s registration number will be placed on the back of the artwork, not the back of the frame, for security reasons. It’s duplicate is placed on the certificate itself. If you have any questions about the framing process, please feel free to message me.
