Heya, kids! Welcome to Jen Gillette's CAKEWALK SHOES, coming to you live from Columbus, Ohio. This is really a shop for those of us who never stopped playing dress-up, for those of us who see getting dressed every day as a creative act.

I'll be listing one-of-a-kind wearable pastries. Custom orders will be considered on a case-by-case basis due to my time being limited and these shoes taking 3-4 weeks to produce.

If you were a regular during Black Standard Clothing, welcome back! If you're entirely new, welcome, and I can't wait to show you some CAKEWALK SHOES.

*At this time, I'll accept Paypal, money orders, and personal checks. If you pay with a money order or a personal check, your item(s) won't ship until the payment is received and has cleared into my account. For personal checks, this may take several days. Please be aware of that if you're in a rush.

*After purchasing an item, payment is due within seven days (not business days--the regular sort of days). Etsy's policy asks you to pay within three days if paying by mail, so I think it's fair to expect it to have arrived within seven. After this period has expired, I'll have to notify Etsy for non-payment. A word of advice: if you're dropping a check or money order in the mail, sent me a conversation to let me know that it's on the way.

*You may request a cancellation of any sales within THREE HOURS of purchase. I understand that accidents happen, so any requests for cancellation within this window will be honored graciously. However, after this time, requesting a cancellation is going to come bundled with less-than-thrilled feedback. This is because I want to be able to send items out very quickly and run a tight ship. Long waits for payment and no-show buying will hold things up for all of the more enthusiastic folks.
*All domestic items are shipped via USPS Priority Mail. If you'd prefer another carrier, talk to me about that in advance so that I can adjust the shipping costs. It will likely be more expensive.

*ALL purchases must be shipped with insurance, delivery confirmation, and boxes marked "FRAGILE" by the USPS. This goes for shipping to you and any attempt at a return. Items returned WITHOUT these considerations may not be fully refunded due to damage or postal errors that are outside my control.

*Shipping upgrades are available. If you need your item RIGHT NOW YESTERDAY (or at least within a day or two), I can do that for you: convo me and I'll create a separate listing for it. If I receive your order before noon Monday through Saturday, the item(s) will go out that day. And orders on Sunday, placed after noon, or placed after noon on Saturday will go out the next possible day. Same goes for postal holidays.

*Regular, non-expedited items ship within three days of payment receipt.

*Your items will arrive looking pretty pretty for you, but if you want me to fancy it up with formal gift wrapping, please alert me to that in "Message to Seller" when placing your order. I can create a gift wrapping listing for you. On a regular order, my focus will be on protecting the shoes.

*International shipping is available! International items will ship international parcel post. If the item is over $100, the shipping will go up quite a bit to cover the cost of shipping with tracking and insurance. If you choose to accept standard shipping on orders under $100 (this is the default if you don't ask for a shipping upgrade in message to seller during checkout), I cannot be responsible for lost or damaged items. I save all postal receipts and the best I can do in the case of lost items is prove to you that I sent it.

*Custom orders come with personalized shipping estimates based on how complex the order is. If you're interested in a custom build, I'll give you a ship date for that exact item. Custom orders will take around 3-4 weeks to complete. The shoes require a curing time and shipping prior to a full cure may result in damaged shoes.

*I'll ship to gift recipient so long as you're square with the house on your payment. Gift shipments will include a small, handwritten note about who the gift is really from. Remember to ask for gift wrapping item if you want it to be extra gussied-up for arrival.
Refunds and Exchanges
*Returns are an extremely delicate business for CAKEWALK SHOES. I will accept returns under the following conditions:
-- The shoes are in the EXACT condition they left in. This means that dents, scratches, scuffs on the soles, dirt in the footbed, changes in odor (including cigarette smoke), the presence of pet hair, etc. can all be grounds for a partial or refused refund. I apologize if this sounds harsh, but I invest a lot of resources into the production of these shoes and do all I can to be sure it's a good match before shipping. Trust me, I have spent a lot of time looking over every corner of these shoes. I know what I'm sending out, and I'll know if it's changed at all.
-- Shoes are returned to me in their original packaging with postal insurance, delivery confirmation, and a box marked "FRAGILE" by the USPS or shipping carrier.
-- I am notified of your intent to return the shoes within 24 hours of your receiving them. There are no exceptions to this.

*To prevent returns, there are several measurements provided in each listing, including marked size AND footbed measurements. For the most accurate sizing, please measure the footbed of similarly styled shoes you own. Marked sizes vary wildly, so these measurements will help you more accurately predict fit.

*You're entirely responsible for the cost of return shipping, INCLUDING delivery confirmation and insurance. I require both on return shipments.

*If the shoes are damaged in transit from me to you, I reserve the right to hold your payment until the USPS refunds the insured amount. If the shoes are damaged in transit from you to me, you are responsible for filing the insurance claim.

*If a refund is partially or fully denied, the shoes will be returned to you. Do with them what you will, but please understand that this is not grounds for negative feedback. If they are damaged when they arrive, that's a matter for USPS insurance, not this shop.

*Custom orders made with shoes that you have sent me cannot be returned or refunded. I will work with you every step of the way to be sure that you will be happy with the final product, but the product is non-refundable.

*At this time, I am accepting custom orders on a case-by-case basis. Convo me if you have an idea and I'll see if I have the time and resources to make your dreams come true. All custom orders require a non-refundable 50% down payment toward the agreed upon final cost of the item.

*All of my items are made in my lovely, smoke-free home. I do have a pet, a lovely rescued standard poodle, but as you may know, poodles are nearly hypo-allergenic. Because they have growing hair and not fur, they do not shed the way most dogs and cats do. Miss Eloise is very glamorous and thinks shedding is beneath her. The occasional poodle hair may make it into packaging, and I do apologize for that.

*There are specific care instructions in the listing, but just in case you're curious, here's the rundown. CAKEWALK SHOES are durable, but not invincible: please take care to wear them in reasonable weather and not to abuse them too much. If they show any dirt, you can wipe them down with warm water and a soft cloth. If it's stubborn dirt, a gentle soap (plant-based cleaners like Seventh Generation or Mrs. Meyer's are recommended) solution and a soft cloth are recommended. Never use harsh spray cleaners on your CAKEWALKs, and weather sealing is not necessary. Never submerge CAKEWALKs in water.

*Group discounts are available for bridal parties, bands, or other groups who all want to CAKEWALK. Message me for more information.
