Hair + History, or what happens when a hair stylist is also a history nerd

I am a professionally licensed Hair & Make-Up Artist, specializing in Styling & Finishing (updos, blowouts & make-up applications) for weddings and special events. My hobby for over 20 years has been Historical Costuming, so combining my love of history with my love for hair & cosmetics is something I delight in!

And that is how this shop was born! Hair is so important to a finished look and I've always preferred to style my own hair, aided by pads, cushions and hairpieces, to create the correct silhouette and style. It's a period correct method and I love how comfortable, creative, versatile and personalized this approach to historic hair is.

I'm excited to use my professional training, historical research and personal experience to offer these aids and accessories to create hairstyles of history!

The majority of my items are custom-to-order. My current creation time can be up to 14 business days. Some items will ship faster than this, but please be aware that there will be a delay in shipping your item as I carefully create them for you. If you need something by a particular deadline, please contact me before you order so that I can ensure that I meet your deadline.

Returns and exchanges
I gladly accept exchanges

The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalized orders
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
Returns and exchange details
For sanitary reasons and because of the personalized nature of my custom made pieces, all hairpiece, wig and cushion sales are finial.

Exchanges on these items are only accepted if they arrive damaged or defective. I also accept exchanges if I matched your hair color IN PERSON and you are unhappy with that color match. Exchanges need to contact me within 14 days of delivery and original item must be shipped within 14 days of approval. All Exchanges must be approved before item is shipped back.

I am happy to accept returns or exchanges for other offered items such as accessories, combs, clips or feathers for any reason. Please contact me within 7 days for a refund of the purchase price, minus a 10% restocking fee (25% for custom orders).

I ship all of my items with tracking, so I will use the tracking delivery date to determine the timeline. I recommend that you re-ship with tracking and insurance. If I do not receive your package, I will be unable to issue a refund or exchange.

From 7-14 days, you have the option to exchange your item for another or receive store credit for future purchases, however I will request that you pay for shipping for the new item. Please note that I do not refund or cover shipping either way for a return or exchange, unless the error is mine. After 15 days I do not accept returns or exchanges on any item.
Payment
I accept all major credit cards through PayPal and Etsy Direct Checkout.

Payment on purchases is expected within 48 hours of your order. If payment has not been received within 48 hours the sale will be canceled and the item relisted.

Please note that your Etsy and PayPal shipping addresses should match. If not I default to the PayPal address as the place to ship your order. I am not responsible for mis-directed packages shipped to an incorrect address on either your PayPal or Etsy account.
Shipping
I ship via USPS according to the method chosen at time of purchase. I include tracking and insurance on all my orders, these are included in your shipping price.

Please note that I cannot be held responsible for shipping delays once the package leaves my hands.

International buyers: Please convo me if you have questions about shipping to your country; I am happy to give you a quote! Please note that you are responsible for any customs fees incurred with shipping. Check with your country's postal service to determine if any additional charges will be levied on your purchase. Please do not ask me to falsify the value of the items I am shipping on customs forms. Customs forms will be listed with the full value only.
Additional policies and FAQs
- Lost or Damaged Items: All of my items are shipped with tracking and insurance. If your item is lost or damaged by the postal service, I will file an insurance claim on your behalf. Once the claim has been settled (generally this takes 25-30 days), I will issue you a refund for your order or I will replace the item for you (if I have the supplies to make another). Please note that if the item is listed as delivered by the Postal Service, I am unable to file a claim and cannot refund your order. Please ensure that packages can be stored safely and securely at your location.
