About

Hair + History, or what happens when a hair stylist is also a history nerd

I am a professionally licensed Hair & Make-Up Artist, specializing in Styling & Finishing (updos, blowouts & make-up applications) for the Bridal and Special Event industry. My hobby for over 20 years has been Historical Costuming, so naturally combining my love of history with my love for hair & cosmetics is something I delight in!

And that is how this shop was born! Hair is so important to a finished look and as much as I love a beautifully styled full wig, as a living historian and costumer I don't really love wearing, or storing, them. I've always preferred to style my own hair, aided by pads, cushions and hairpieces, to create the correct silhouette and style. It's a period correct method and I love how comfortable, creative, versatile and personalized this approach to historic hair is. I'm excited to use my professional training, historical research and personal experience to offer these aids and accessories to create hairstyles of history!

Returns and exchanges
I don't accept returns, exchanges, or cancellations
But please contact me if you have any problems with your order.
Returns and exchange details
For sanitary reasons all hair-pieces and cushion sales are finial. Returns or exchanges on these items is only accepted if you are unhappy with a color chosen by me through my in-person matching service.

I am happy to accept returns or exchanges for other offered items such as accessories, combs, clips or feathers for any reason. Please contact me within 7 days for a refund of the purchase price, minus a 10% restocking fee (25% for custom orders). I ship all of my items with tracking, so I will use the delivery date to determine the timeline. I recommend that you re-ship with tracking and insurance. If I do not receive your package, I will be unable to issue a refund. From 7-14 days, you have the option to exchange your item for another or receive store credit for future purchases, however I will request that you pay for shipping for the new item. Please note that I do not refund or cover shipping either way for a return or exchange, unless the error is mine. After 15 days I do not accept returns or exchanges.
Payment
I accept all major credit cards through PayPal and Etsy Direct Checkout.

Payment on purchases is expected within 48 hours of your order. If payment has not been received within 48 hours the sale will be canceled and the item relisted.

Please note that your Etsy and PayPal shipping addresses should match. If not I default to the PayPal address as the place to ship your order. I am not responsible for mis-directed packages shipped to an incorrect address on either your PayPal or Etsy account.
Shipping
I ship via USPS according to the method chosen at time of purchase. I include tracking on all my orders.

Please note that insurance is included with Priority Mail. Insurance on first class packages is at the discretion of the buyer. Please note in the comments at time of purchase if you would like to add insurance and I will invoice you the adjusted amount. I cannot be held responsible for uninsured items or for shipping delays once the package leaves my hands.

International buyers: Please convo me if you have questions about shipping to your country; I am happy to give you a quote! Please note that you are responsible for any customs fees incurred with shipping. Check with your country's postal service to determine if any additional charges will be levied on your purchase. Please do not ask me to falsify the value of the items I am shipping on customs forms. Customs forms will be listed with the full value only.
Additional policies and FAQs
- Lost or Damaged Items: Most of my items are shipped Priority Mail with tracking and insurance. If your item is lost or damaged by the postal service, I will file an insurance claim on your behalf. Once the claim has been settled (generally this takes 25-30 days), I will issue you a refund for your order or I will replace the item for you (if I have the supplies to make another). Please note that if the item is listed as delivered by the Postal Service, I am unable to file a claim and cannot refund your order. Please ensure that packages can be stored safely and securely at your location.

- FEEDBACK: I want your experience shopping with me to be a lovely one! Please contact me prior to leaving negative feedback, so we can resolve any issues.

- CUSTOM ORDERS: I ask for a 50% non-refundable deposit at the time that the order is placed. Once I have completed your item, I will post pictures for you to see and will invoice you for the remaining balance. Once your item is completed and invoiced, you have 30 days to purchase the custom listing. After 30 days, your item will be offered up for general sale and your deposit will be forfeited.

- PETS: Please note that I do have resident kitties in my home. They don't like me much, nor do they really come into my work space but just in case...
