5 out of 5 starsThis is the 3rd silhouette I've bought from Jenny, and even 4 years later Jenny was able to create a matching one for my 3rd (and last!) child. Thank you!

fine paper arts
I started cutting silhouette portraits on a dare in 2007. Since then, I've cut hundreds and hundreds of portraits of people of all ages in the traditional freehand and contemporary methods. I'm a life-long maker and an avid researcher. Much of my art grows from family life and the natural world where I live in New York's Hudson River Valley.
My traditional freehand portraits are drawn directly into paper with scissors with the same technique used by many early American itinerant silhouette artists. The only difference is that your image is seated on my laptop, rather than a chair in front of me.
All of the work in my shop is of my own original design and most of my paper cuttings are editions of one-- expertly and delicately hand-cut from a single piece of heirloom-quality paper and mounted with archival adhesive on cotton museum board.
My work has been shared via Taproot Magazine, Garden Design, Design Sponge, Martha Stewart Living, House Beautiful, Better Homes and Gardens, Men's Health, Hudson Valley Almanac, and other print and online venues. It can also be spotted on the Hudson Valley Seed Library’s fabulous Art Packs (Variegated Nasturtium, Marigold Medley, and Ragged Jack Kale) and in various galleries throughout the country. I was an artist in residence for the opening of the Walkway Over the Hudson and was awarded the Spring Creek Project’s Collaborative Retreat at Shotpouch Creek in Oregon.

Returns and exchange details
That said, if you purchase custom artwork and do not love it-- I do not offer refunds-- but am happy to offer an adjustment or recutting. Please contact me before leaving feedback if you are not happy with your custom piece. There is usually something that I can do.
For all other listings I offer exchange or refund (sans shipping) as long as the item is still in clean and saleable condition.
If an item is lost or damaged in shipping, I can usually replace it since I keep copies of most cuttings on file. Just convo me with the sad story (photos are also helpful if an item has been damaged).
Payment
Additional charges may apply for rush orders, shipping upgrades, or changes to an order at the request of the buyer that differ substantively from our initial correspondence after work has begun.
Shipping
It's always nice to know that the piece arrived and that you are happy with it via positive feedback on Etsy.
Most items are packaged in a cellophane sleeve inside a flat kraft envelope with cardboard reinforcement or a cardboard box.
Buyers are responsible for any and all international customs and fees and should assume the risk of any customs delays.
