This is my fourth plush friend from Teddy Bear Republic and I absolutely adore him! I wish I could adopt them all! :)

About

Jenny Smith Plush Artist and her Teddy Bear Republic

Once upon a time in the 7th grade, I made a plush Squirrel for home economics class. This started a sewing obsession. I then got my first jointed teddy bear kit and learned how to make mohair bears. I was making those for years and then I decided to put some of my drawings and doodles into action and the Teddy Bear Republic was born. I have been making my softies for 3 years and my small business has been a fun experience. I have met all kinds of crafty people and am now associated with the Academy of Handmade here in Los Angeles. I've even had my pieces in prop houses and so if you look closely in the back ground of certain television shows and maybe even movies, you may spot one of my creations!
For me, softie making is a labor of love and it is fun to work on new designs. Working with faux fur can be a challenge at times, but the outcome is so fun and whimsical. My poor sewing machine is always trying to keep up!
My softies are not only for children, but for adults who are free to embrace their inner child. Remember, softie hugs are free!
