I have not worn this yet but true in color in person when compared to the website. This will be my go to for airplane travel. It was too large for me but I had it altered on the sides so it was a bit more fitted and closer to the photo on the website. The stripes are very understated and I love the "owl tattoo" on the back! So interesting and practical. Curl up on the plane in something more interesting than black.

Such a special one of a kind high quality wrap. Perfect in the Florida weather over a tank or favorite t shirt. I wore it once with my jeans and got three compliments in an evening. Folks asking where I bought this and they loved the graphics of the bee and flowers. Destined to be one of my "go to' items in my closet for comfort and effortless dressing

About

Stories among the stitches...

A Midwesterner living in the mountains of the south, I translate my scribbles and sketches into surface design on amazingly wearable silk and bamboo. Meanwhile, I explore narrative and imagery through intricately cutting paper and screen printing.
As designer and maker, I strive to create clever, flattering apparel and accessories that truly come alive when they are worn. I regularly witness this alchemy between women and my work; both are changed for the better. My hand-dyed blue silk alights her steely eyes, my printed imagery evokes her own memories, my figure-friendly contours make her feel attractive and stylish. Three particular elements-- shibori-dyed silk, screen printed bamboo jersey, and smart styling-- define my signature style. I use a modern take on shibori (machine-stitching resist motifs) to engineer pattern on the garment, therefore on the female figure. Screen printing my illustrations and intricate papercuts adds personal content, embedding stories among the stitches. Technical components become creative opportunities: pockets in lapels, decorative stitching as support structure, bindings and ruffles as unexpected pops of color. As my mastery matures, onward goes the evolution of fine design for stylish women.

Welcome to my shop!

I take pride in making gorgeous, versatile, unique clothing and accessories from scratch! I start with plain silk and bamboo yardage and dye, print, and make it all in my Asheville, NC studio.

I have been making Jennythreads full time for 12 years. I have hundreds of happy wearers all around the country who have shopped with me in my booth at craft fairs and bought my pieces in boutiques and galleries, and of course, on etsy too.

All clothing items are sized S, M, or L, individually handmade, hand-dyed, preshrunk, and hand washable. I have included the measurements of the specific item being sold, since they can vary a bit from one piece to the next.

My quilted paintings/ artworks have been exhibited widely in galleries and exhibitions all over the United States, featured in Surface Design Journal, graced the cover of Fiber Arts Magazine, and been shown in three prestigious Quilt National Exhibitions, one winning the Award of Excellence in 2009. They are original, innovative, idiosyncratic works of art and I am proud to list them on Etsy, where they can stay safe at my house or in a gallery until they find good homes, maybe with you!

I would like you to be informed and confident about what you are buying. Please convo me with any questions!
