My name is Jess and I have been running my creative business 'Jeski' since December 2009. After studying creative arts at uni, I became interested in supporting handmade artists and started buying a lot of handmade jewellery, accessories and art - even more after I discovered Etsy! Seeing how easy it was to start up a shop through Etsy, I decided to try it out for myself and created my online shop, Jeski. I started out making jewellery only (I had made earrings in the past) and as my skills improved, I started making more complicated items and non-jewellery items as well. Eventually, besides jewellery (necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings etc) I also started making headbands & hairclips, knitted items (e.g. scarves, headbands, armwarmers), sewn items (e.g. bags, felt brooches) homewares (e.g. handpainted boxes), handpainted & embellished shoes, makeup, original framed artworks, and upcycled clothing (e.g. bleached/handpainted leggings, slashed & tied tshirts).

In September 2011 I opened my own physical shop. My shop was located within the Creative Spirit Centre, an innovative centre for small local businesses in western Sydney. In November 2012 I closed the physical shop due to financial pressure, and in order to focus entirely on my online business.

In March 2013 I relaunched my business, with a focus on higher quality handmade jewellery, cosmetics and clothing, as well as graphic design. All of my older items were moved over to a side shop, JeskiAttic ( where I also sell craft supplies.

Thanks for visiting my shop, and I hope you find some treasures you like! If you're interested in any sort of custom work, please don't hesitate to send me a message. <3

Shop policies

Last updated on November 22, 2012
Welcome to my shop policies page. Thanks for taking the time to read this. :)

I make an effort to be sure my items are as sturdy and well-made as possible, but please remember they are not mass-produced professional items, but rather unique artworks which need to be treated with care.

I'd also like to note here that all of my items are either one-of-a-kind, or limited edition. More often the former than the latter. ^_^

Now for the policies. :D

Accepted payment methods

  • Pay with Visa
  • Pay with Master Card
  • Pay with American Express
  • Pay with Discover
  • Pay with PayPal
  • Other Method
~ After you've bought one of my items, I require payment for it within 3 working days. If you have a problem with this, please let me know - I can give you more time if there are extenuating circumstances.
~ Your item will not be shipped until I receive your payment.
~ If you decide you no longer wish to purchase an item, that's fine, but you need to let me know before you send payment.
~ If you open a Paypal dispute due to not receiving your item, and it is within the 2-3 weeks stated below for delivery, you will receive negative feedback. Please be patient!
~ My shipping rates are flat. This is because I list a lot of items every week and it's far easier for me to use a flat shipping rate rather than trying to calculate postage on every different item. The shipping cost includes packaging.

I have four different shipping rates, depending on the size/weight of the item. They are as follows:

Rate 1 (earrings, hairclips, rings, and other very light items): $2.20 within Australia / $3.40 international
Rate 2 (most necklaces, bracelets, and heavier flat items): $4.00 within Australia / $7.20 international
Rate 3 (chunkier jewellery, scarves, clothing, jewellery boxes & other bulkier items): $7.60 within Australia / $14.70 international
Rate 4 (shoes & anything else very heavy): $20 within Australia, $30 international

Any extra items included in orders falling under Rates 1-3 are $1 extra per item, extra items included in orders falling under Rate 4 are $5 per item.

~ You may notice when you receive your item that the postage amount marked on the package is less (or sometimes more) than you paid. This is both because my shipping rates are flat and because my shipping rates include all packaging materials.
~ If you would like expidited shipping, let me know as soon as possible and I will invoice you for the extra cost. This is usually approximately $10 on top of the regular shipping price.
~ If you want to purchase insurance/registered post on your item, let me know as soon as possible and I will invoice you for the extra cost. Registered post costs $4 on top of the regular shipping price.
~ Your item will be shipped from Australia. If you are buying from overseas please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery. However your package will probably arrive sooner than this. :)
~ Your order will be posted as soon as I am able to post it (usually the second or third business day after the order is placed). Please note that occasionally I am short on cash to post your item immediately and have to wait for the money sent to my Paypal to transfer to my bank account.
~ Custom bleached/painted clothing will take at least 2 days to be made due to the bleaching/painting/washing/drying process. The time it takes to make these items is also somewhat dependent on the weather (since bleached items need to be made outside/in the sun).
Refunds and Exchanges
As mentioned previously, my items are not mass-produced professional items, but rather wearable artworks that must be treated with care.

~ If you are unhappy with the craftmanship of one of my items, please send me a message detailing what specifically you feel is wrong with the item. In some cases I will refund partial cost (if the problem is obviously my fault, for example if the glue has failed). Any refunds are completely at my own discretion.
~ I take as much care as I can to make sure your item is packaged carefully so that it will not be damaged during shipping. If it is somehow damaged during the shipping process, this is not my fault and no refund will be given in this event.
~ If your item is lost during shipping, this is not my fault and no refund will be given. Items are lost very rarely (it has only happened once so far that I am aware of) but if you'd like to avoid the risk entirely you can purchase shipping insurance (see shipping section above). If it is past the 3 week delivery timeframe, your item has more than likely been lost in the post. :( PLEASE do not open a Paypal dispute, at risk of negative feedback. I can produce the receipt to prove I posted your item, and no refund will be given.
Additional policies and FAQs

Q: How long have you been making jewellery?
A: I made earrings and necklaces many years ago but it was only about 3 years ago that started making things again, inspired by the handcrafted things I've been buying for myself.

Q: Where do you get the components for your jewellery and accessories?
A: I buy almost all of the supplies I use from Etsy suppliers. :) Occasionally I also buy supplies from Spotlight (large Australian craft store chain) and very rarely, eBay.

Q: Do you sell anywhere other than Etsy?
A: I have a brick-and-mortar Jeski store, as of September 10, 2011. :) It is within the Creative Spirit Centre, which is filled with little boutique shops run by creative types. The address is 43/44 Minchinbury Hometown M-Centre, Great Western Hwy, Minchinbury, Sydney Australia. My shop is open Tuesday - Friday 10am-2:30pm, and Saturdays from 9am-5pm.

Q: Where do you photograph your items?
A: When I worked at home, I photographed my items where I made them - in my bedroom, on my antique wooden dressing table. Now I photograph my items in my physical shop.

I am still learning when it comes to photographing my items, so I apologise for any sub-par photo quality. If you need a better look at something, please feel free to request a clearer photo.

Q: Can I order a custom item?
A: As you may have noticed I tend to buy several of the same kind of charms/chains/earwires/clasps/etc at once, and use them in a variety of ways (e.g. I've used small bronze birdcage charms in several different items). If you would like to request a custom item using components you can see me using currently, by all means request away. ^_^ This kind of custom item would cost the same as a similar item in my shop.

I'm also quite happy to work with you to create something entirely original! If you have an idea for something special, please let me know & I will see what I can do for you. :) Custom image pendants (like the lacquered pendants in my shop) are very welcome. This kind of custom item would cost a little more than a similar item in my shop (but not much).

I can also make small adjustments to existing items, such as replacing bronze earwires with sterling silver earwires, adjusting chain length, removing components, etc. This would not affect the cost of the item in any way.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me at any time by either sending me an Etsy conversation or emailing me directly at jesuki [!at]

Thanks again for taking the time to read my shop policies, and happy shopping! :D
