This was a Christmas gift for my eleven-year-old daughter who absolutely loved it. It is exactly what I'd hoped it would be.

About

Magically uplifting artwork + other delights.

In the beginning I had a deep desire to become a surface designer and a true, undying love for paint.

The beginning was infused with so much inspiration. So much possibility. So much confusion. So much longing for success...

Working in a teeny bedroom studio in my apartment, I painted and painted. I taught myself to create repeat patterns using Adobe Illustrator and became instantly hooked for life, and then all of a sudden I was a surface pattern designer. I made new products, I updated my etsy shop. I read blogs and learned about online business. I exhibited at my first trade show. I started licensing my work for products. I started to sense a rift in my work -- I made paintings and patterns -- I didn't see how these two different branches of my art-making related to each other. My paintings had deeper messages, but my patterns felt somewhat frivolous, with no meaning beyond being pretty to look at.

Slowly, over the years, I've discovered a way to weave these two pieces of my business and my art into something that makes sense. There was an a-ha moment. I understand now that my paintings and my patterns complement each other and work together to help me express my mission.

Which is:
My art is about making you feel awesome. Everything I create is meant to serve as a token of happiness, to remind you that you deserve to feel GOOD, to feel supported, and to feel seen in your life. Once I realized this mission, it all came together for me. Whether it's a painting, a patterned glasses case, a calendar, or some other brightly colored product that I create, the aim is the same-- to make something that will light up your eyes, light up your heart, and add a little bit of happiness to the world.
