Ciao, sono Jess. Sono cresciuta negli Appalachi, dove la parsimonia, il risparmio e il saper sfruttare al meglio ogni piccola cosa facevano parte della vita quotidiana. Mia nonna realizzava centrini con le corde dei sacchetti di cibo per cani, e quel rispetto per i materiali ha plasmato il mio approccio al fai da te. La mia pratica creativa mi mantiene sana di mente, onorando al contempo i valori con cui sono cresciuta.
Lavoro con scarti, avanzi e tessuti di recupero, trasformandoli in oggetti utili o affascinanti. Il mio artigianato non è perfettamente sostenibile, ma mi sforzo di creare con attenzione in un mondo che spesso premia il consumo eccessivo e sottovaluta le arti domestiche.
Ogni ritaglio ha una sua storia, intrecciata con curiosità e scelta con cura. A volte è rilassante e meditativo, ma il più delle volte è un tessuto che trafigge con rabbia perché il mondo è troppo grande e i problemi sono troppo grandi, ma posso controllare ciò che è alla mia portata.

Hello, I’m Jess. I grew up in Appalachia where thrift, saving, and making the most of every little thing was a part of daily life. My Mamaw made doilies from dog food bag strings, and that respect for materials shaped the way I approach crafting. My creative practice keeps me sane while honoring the values that I grew up with.
I work with scraps, leftovers, and reclaimed fabrics, transforming them into useful or charming objects. My crafting isn’t perfectly sustainable, but I strive to create thoughtfully in a world that often rewards overconsumption and undervalues domestic arts.
Each scrap has its own story woven with curiosity and chosen with care. Some days it’s soothing and meditative, but most days it’s angrily stabbing fabric because the world is too big and the problems are too big, but I can control what's in my reach.
