Announcement   Hello and welcome to Jetta's Nest, home of sweet artworks and handcrafted keepsakes all made by me, Samantha Gilkes.

My bespoke wooden range is made by me in my home studio from reclaimed and salvaged scrap timber which I cut to size with a band-saw then cut with a scroll-saw and sand to smooth finish. Each piece is individually illustrated by me with ink or pyrography tool and colour pencil and sealed for a durable finish, making each piece one of a kind.

My art dolls are made by me from my own original designs and are easily customisable into 3D portraits.

Visit me for regular updates and behind the scenes shots at www.facebook.com/jettasnest or check out my website at www.jettasnest.com.

Absolutely love everything that Sam from Jetta's Nest creates - the moon phase wall hanging is beautiful from a distance, but when you get up close, it's magic! Gorgeous hand painted artwork and dreamy, smooth edged wood <3 Love it!

About

Art & Handcrafted Keepsakes…

Coming from a creative family I spent my early years watching everyone around me integrating their creativity into their everyday lives. I've been drawing since I could hold a pencil and have always loved experimenting with art. As an adult I began to experiment with painting on salvaged wood and when I had my first son I decided to try my hand at selling my work and Jetta's Nest was born (named after my much loved pet rat, Jetta and her repurposed nest who was my companion many years ago).

I am very lucky to live on a beautiful property with my husband, 3 children, 18 chickens and 2 dogs. We are close to the beach and close to the bush so enjoy the best of both worlds.

I put so much of myself into each of my pieces and my hope is that they are treasured as keepsakes and passed down through families to be treasured once again by a new generation.

Each bespoke piece is carefully created by me using salvaged and repurposed timbers and finished with individually illustrated and painted details making each item one of a kind. By giving new life to discarded timber pieces I create a way of celebrating the life of the trees that surround us and provide us with so much.

My illustrations and artworks come from my heart and are inspired by glimpses of beauty in my everyday life.

By making things, I share a little something of myself with those who wear, use and enjoy my work, pieces to treasure and to remind us of the little things that are so sweet.

Hi, welcome to Jetta's Nest. My bespoke wooden pieces are handcrafted by me using a Scroll Saw (not laser cut) out of recycled and salvaged wood. Each piece is then finished by me with individually illustrated details and colour. I love taking those scrap pieces of wood that nobody wants and turning them into little pieces of wearable art. My art is inspired by all the things around me and little thoughts that pop in to my head.

Please note that I use old timber. The Brown Pine (Plum Pine) that enjoy using is quite rich in colour and has some feature due to its age.
